Fireball throwers beware

Six months before Street Fighter 6 was officially released, the developers made a huge change which removed projectile invincibility from Level 1 supers in the game during the second beta test.
Since that time, throwing a projectile out on screen and then following behind it has become one of the most popular and common tactics, as getting around fireballs can be a very tricky thing for a number of cast members, but this likely won’t be the case for Elena when she’s released on June 5, 2025.
As showcased recently by Capcom during her character guide for Street Fighter 6, Elena’s Lynx Song has a variety of ways it can be used, with one of its main attributes being that it’s invincible to projectiles when it’s in its spinning animation.
After the spin during Lynx Song, Elena has the ability to follow up with several moves, which will likely give her a counter hit or punish counter status on the opponent when traversing through a fireball, making projectiles far more risky against Elena than most, if not all, of the other cast members in Street Fighter 6.
The trade off is that Elena must be in her spinning animation during Lynx Song to gain the benefit of projectile invincibility, however, the Overdrive (OD) version of the move gains this feature faster than the standard move, giving Elena an even easier time dodging around fireballs.
Couple this with a fully invincible Dragon Punch (DP) with her OD Scratch Wheel, and you have a toolkit very specifically designed to counter balance one of the most powerful and dominant techniques in all of Street Fighter 6, throwing a fireball and closing ground behind it.
It’s going to be interesting to see if Elena is particularly strong against the likes of Guile, Chun-Li, A.K.I. and the like, because of this projectile invincibility property of her Lynx Song.
