Doesn't matter how big the map is, how many side easter eggs or how bombastic the boss is. The community will tear it apart in a week and ask for more.
I honestly started understanding why they hid ee steps in random rocks back in rev and blood. But then the community started complaining about that too.
The ever increasing demands are honestly ridiculous like there's only so many devs and so much time. Unless you wanted infinitely generated AI slop there's a limit to this.
Which is funny because we're approaching that point and that's partly because of the community's expectation of dropping a map every season.
And if that was met then the goalpost will be moved to every half season and so on.

The world in general is getting addicted to consumption more and more every year.
Yes maps in the past had more hidden features which added to the longevity of the map itself, I mean nowadays a map is picked apart within 5 hours of releasing. And whilst I think that’s a big reason for today, I think the bigger part in the atmosphere in general.
I swear the shift since 2020 is insane, it’s just this big shift of wanting constant content and quick media consumption and never being happy with what we get anymore. Back in the day a SINGLE zombies maps would last us 3 months!, we were satisfied for 3 months with nothing but a zombies map.
But I think the damage is already done, a lot of people generally can’t be satisfied with what’s given to them anymore, it’s an everlasting quest to just consistently consume new content day in day out.
Wasn’t always like this. I still go back to play BO2 and BO3 maps and they always feel perfect. The Easter eggs aren’t mindlessly repetitive loops of “protect this, kill X amount of zombies around this, wait 2 rounds for this elite” there was constantly something to do. I think some maps at BO2 were really good at this.
BO6 maps all play extremely similarly with the exception of some parts of Terminus. Otherwise, every map feels incredibly repetitive. The best way I heard someone describe it is “It’s like you’re playing multiplayer, team deathmatch on different maps, but it’s still team deathmatch”. You can’t say the same for classic maps.
Don’t forget it’s also constantly wanting new harder areas last I heard
It’s really just a new expectation that’s been set during this games life cycle I mean they pumped out content very quickly this year so of course everybody was spoiled and got comfortable getting consistent 2 months or less maps so it’s only natural to be disappointed the streak is ending now. The streak also happens to be ending particularly far into this games life cycle so zombies fatigue is quite high. I mean this game has been out for 7 months now and shattered veil is approaching 2 months old it’s very understandable to want a new map when everything in this game has been beaten into the ground and done a 100 times. Something like grief that will be fun for 2 maybe 3 days is not nearly strong enough to entice a zombies player this far in like a new map would.
