I knew 13th gen i9 has bad reputation but, guess it's not that rare.
Died after ~2 years. Got a free replacement under warranty anyway, but not sure how long that will last.
My work has a 13900k as a workstation server and we just found out one of our programs was running it at full tilt at 100C. We were very concerned, needless to say. This thing is a hot beast.

Of course it did.

I have been thinking of going back to 12thgen 12900k from a 13700 due these post’s cpu deaths should not happen this quick.

Happened with me too, but something magical resulted from that, i started an RMA, got the money and bought an 9800x3d

Head to McDonalds and perform TubGirl aiming to squirt the dead CPU onto the ceiling.

bought a 14700k bundle at MC like a week before all the voltage shit hit the headlines. luckily they let me swap it for a 7800x3d bundle.

I was very angry about how expensive my i7 7700k 1080 TI build was a million years ago because of the crypto farming boom. Turns out, I built the most actually future proof build possible. I think I can still squeeze another two or three years out of this rig before mandatory ray tracing forces me to move on.

I was wondering why Ive been having so many weird crashes lately… think I need to call Intel. Its 2 years old now
samsta8
That didn’t take long. That’s damn unlucky dude, CPUs aren’t exactly cheap…
Meanwhile my 8700K rig is still going strong… should I be worried about it dying soon?
mcconnellballwrinkle
Are you thinking about switching to an AMD system now? (CPU wise)
PhilosopherCat7567
Just make the switch the x3d 3d vcash is really good for gaming and you won’t give it in Intel

I’m still on a 6600k in desperate need of an upgrade, but it honestly still does decent and everything I need it to. Don’t do much current gen AAA gaming as the most theh provide is a B experience with pretty polish. Maybe next year, we shall see.

Sadge news indeed. If you haven’t updated your mobo bios, definitely check into that so you can make the replacement last as long as possible. The latest bios should help ensure your cpu isn’t randomly overvolting to the extreme.
