Studios that sell out always go to shit. Unless a studio maintains original ownership I see a trend of them going to shit like 1 or 2 games after they sell out and those people leave.

Well, at least they can always point to 343 and say “At least we made *good* Halo games…” Although who’s to say how many of the old Halo crew are still at Bungie.

When Destiny was under Activision, everyone blamed them for any bad practices (DLC schedule, cosmetics increasing, etc). Then they bought their freedom and got worse. At first you could justify it with “well that was already in place, so why stop it?” Or “they need the extra money since they just lost Activision funding”
But it was always Bungie all along. Activision always said they were very hands off with Destiny. So hands off that Bungie missed every single one of the deadlines that were given and they had to pivot the release schedule every 6 months.
I loved Destiny. But Bungie just took it way too far. There was nothing to justify it after a while. 90% of their time went into “how to make money” and not nearly enough into making the game better.
