Losing hope for my 14700k even though I've undervolted this CPU since I got it in March of 2023 and updated to latest BIOS (and readjusted the undervolt). I'm just hoping I can ride it out until I can save enough for a new CPU and board and it'll definitely be AMD despite my need for productivity for editing photos. So far my crashes had been just purely NVIDIA driver crashes from my new 5080 like Monster Hunter but I'm hoping nobody else in this subreddit has faced degredation issues after the BIOS update.

I think they’re all going to degrade, it’s more a question of how long it’s going to take.

Intel “fixed”’it like 3 times, why believe any of them. Not shocked.

  3. I’d be interested to know if there is a way to tell its degraded

I have a 13600k, did the bios update and even manually lowered some of the settings in the BIOS that were still set stupidly high like the lite load.

It’s going to be really funny tgat my next build will be an amd cpu with an intel gpu.

Amazing how quickly the market changes.

My 13700k still going strong for now. I got it on a very steep discount in October. I’m on latest bios with stock settings with PL1 of 125w and a PL2 of 253w. Even with great air cooling and a contact plate it’ll hit 96c -98c in some games for a second or two. Intel says that’s “expected behavior”. Hope it lasts a while, but I guess it’s time to start saving.

The fact that people still buy intel cpu’s currently is baffling me

Honestly it’s always been a thing, didn’t need his video to convince me, it’s been reported many years ago.

i swear ppl have said this has been fixed like 2-3 times already

I feel like this is going to depend on if you used it a lot before updating the bios. I’m expecting mine to die eventually though luckily it’s the 13900k which seems less degrading than the 14th gen, and once it does, I’ll buy a new CPU probably an AMD one now that they finally fixed gaming performance on their many cored CPUs.

I have a 14700K too that I got earlier this year. Updated BIOS and did a lot of settings (which I have completely forgotten what they are and can never change it back) and maybe even undervolted it and also reduced its power consumption? Did a lot of shit, lost significant performance. But I guess it’s all for fucking nothing.

I hope it works for another year or two and then I am jumping on the AMD bandwagon. Fuck intel.

If you did preventive settings they are fine (still rocking 14900ks that never gets more then 1,4v for 6.2 2 core boost), you SHOULD NOT have to do this but it is what it is

  12. With how good the 9800x3d is and amd in general especially with price to perf I feel like youd have to be in a really bad situation to ever choose intel. And this is coming from someone who used to be an intel fanboy (stupidly)

lol I got downvoted to hell when I said that I didn’t trust that a software solution could totally fixes the issue and to not invest in 13/14th.

If tweaking tension through bios wax a real solution, intel would have done it at the start of 13th when the first cases appeared not after 14th launch and media pressure.

Just under 2 years of use for my 13700k and I experienced system lock up and black screen with restart, both on idle and gaming and once during memtest. I initially thought it was my power supply or gpu drivers but nope no dice after replacing the power supply and DDU on drivers. I started the Intel cpu rma process from Australia and had a replacement direct from Intel in 7 days so I was happy.. I sold the 13700k and replaced it with a 12900ks which I got for a great deal, problem solved and no issues since

13900k going strong since 2022 release. Has been undervolted since I got it I feel like that is what has saved mine.

This must mean Raptor Lake HX is affected as well
