A ballot question that would have allowed small games of chance in Langhorne Manor Borough failed to pass.
The referendum, which sought to permit organizations to conduct small games of chance as fundraisers, garnered 101 “no” votes and 74 “yes” votes from borough voters, according to unofficial election results.
The defeat means Langhorne Manor remains one of the few municipalities in Bucks County where such activities are not permitted.
Small games of chance commonly include gift basket raffles and similar fundraising efforts.
According to council meeting minutes, the initiative to bring the referendum to a vote was spearheaded by resident Jay Ferraro, who is involved with the Barbara T Foundation. The organization, which supports ovarian cancer research, was founded by Ferraro in memory of his late wife, Barbara.
The borough council had approved a resolution to place the referendum on the ballot.
