Maybe it was planned to return but eventually it was cut.
Some things are just a reference.
Lack of a communication between departments. The collectors edition box also iirc had stuff from years ago, including designs from the og mw3. Someone at Treyarch probably created a logo and design (maybe it was supposed to come to MWZ) and the person making the collectors edition thought it looked cool
They didnt let us in on that one.
I don’t think it was teasing anything, considering that was the same collector’s edition which contained artwork of Makarov from the original Modern Warfare 3 rather than the new one.
Most likely planned but eventually scrapped/split into the jug augment and melee machiatto
