Is this from the late 90s/early 2000s? When I first got into IT all the users called it the hard drive for some reason and I never really understood why.

  13. DarkEmblem5736

I work in IT – and there is at least 1 person that calls their PC the ‘hard drive box’ in my org.

I guess it was just easier to call it a computer than “*bunch of hardware that lets you work and play games*”. 😁

  19. Euphoric-Mistake-875

Idk where this comes from. I’ve heard people refer to the computer as a hard drive many times in different geographical areas and from different age groups. Where are people getting this from?

  20. Lardsonian3770

My grandma still calls them hard drives.

  21. RoughGuide1241

Ah yes. My 1TBGhz SPD (Solid Processing drive).

  22. Xeno2014

Reminds me of how smart I thought I was as a kid when my mom taught me the tower is called the CPU.

    I have since learned otherwise

  23. zeek609

You wouldn’t believe how many older generation people I’ve worked with that still call a desktop a “harddrive”.

Even older, is people that still call ‘storage’ ‘memory’.

  24. Alaeriia

So, what *is* the correct name for the computer parts of the computer? It’s not the case; that’s the bit with all the lights that the components live in. I’ve been calling it “the actual computer part of the computer” to differentiate it from the entire setup.
