Skull and Bones, the game got worse and had a smaller scale with every new trailer

Anthem. The graphics, the gameplay, the fact that they immediately abandoned it. What a huge disappointment.
Edit: I should mention that while the graphics were decent, they were a far shot from what we saw in “actual gameplay footage”. By the time that game had run its course, the only thing it excelled in was wasted potential.

For me, the worst example of this will always be Aliens Colonial Marines

Surprised that Aliens Colonial Marines wasn’t the first one mentioned.

Aliens colonial marines. Just look at what we saw in e3 vs what we got now

Watch the original demos with server side destruction. Then look at the half baked sandbox we actually got. What a disappointment.

Im actually gonna say Fortnite. The original trailer and stuff for save the world is incredibly different to what we eventually got, even before it was almost totally dropped in favor of the battle royale. It actually looked pretty damn good and a little bit darker in tone. Looked to be more open world vs the mission structure it has now. Really liked the original look for the game and it’s hybrid action/tower defense.

The Division. Those graphics looked so good in the gameplay trailer and all the neat details that drew me in were lacking or non-existent.

Duke Nukem Forever. By the time it was released, you no longer knew what to expect, and what you got was bad, like really bad.

No Man’s Sky, though they did stick with it, improving the hell out of it. Hoping Light No Fire doesn’t need the same treatment.

I don’t remember a bigger letdown than Spore, which was quite a long time ago. For those that were around at the time, there were epic levels of hype and promise.
