Thank goodness I saw that link on the bottom left. I was literally thinking “Oh god no. No. Not now!”

  1. Oh gee another post about not upgrading to windows 11.. first one I’ve seen

  2. curiosity6648

There is zero excuse to not be on windows 11. Even on an unsupported PC you simply do a quick registry edit and it works fine.

  3. Jack70741

Seriously… 11 is fine. It’s just as good as 10 is now sans a few UI elements that didn’t need to be changed. I’ve upgraded to/installed 11 on all my PCs that are eligible at this point and none of them have any performance issues or errors.

I have a few machines I’m using as servers that are stuck with 10, but honestly they don’t have any ports open to the Internet and I only access them while on the same network anyway so I’m not concerned about security issues.

People need to get over 11. Microsoft isn’t going to change their mind about now. If you really can’t stand it, switch to Mac or Linux.

Listen folks, just because an OS isn’t getting support doesn’t mean it’s magically going to break overnight. It doesn’t mean that you are instantly going to get 100 virii on the computer.
Hell i don’t even run an antivirus, and do a once a month scan with malwarebytes. As much as i torrent and browse the web you’d think i’d get something, but i don’t. Because all you need is a little common sense.

Hell even though i run windows 11, i use Tiny 11, and Malwarebytes Advanced Firewall Control to block everything microsoft including updates. I don’t need their added AI crap, all their telemetry, the fucking calc.exe app talking to them.

Look onto swapping to Linux if you can, it’s really nice to have a system that just does what you say with no extra hoops

  6. Default_Defect

Getting rid of all the shit people don’t want from W11 was trivial, less work than troubleshooting the handful of issue I had on linux.

  7. Every_Pass_226

Look at all the downvotes to every comment which says windows 11 fine. It’s objectively fine though. So is windows 10. Both are great in their own way. I’ve been using windows 11 since launch without any issue. Idk what imaginary world this site resides in to think otherwise.

  8. Aced_By_Chasey

For the majority of people it’s the same. It isn’t like W11 is crashing or performing worse

  9. Fallen_Jalter

I get spammed with this. i don’t know how to make it stop.

  10. wutang61

10 is better. 11 is newer. 11 will overtake 10 as more PC’s are shipped with the software and weed 10 out overtime.

I have computers with 10 and 11 and I prefer 10 every day of the week for being a “basic” OS without all the BS.

  11. christos250

I have an old laptop that doesn’t support 11 which Linux distro do you suggest for someone that thinks XP is the best system Microsoft has ever created xD

  12. Aeternitas97

I was upset when Windows 7 was EOL, and Windows 10 ended up being just fine. I upgraded to Windows 11 awhile back because I saw the end of the line coming for 10. I hated Windows 11 when I first upgraded, but its become better as I’ve used it.

Yeah, I agree it’s objectively worse in at least a few ways. But most of my gripes can be fixed with a few small programs and de-bloat scripts.

Yes Windows is pushing hard to turn everything into advertising and SAAS. But I can’t change it. If I really get fed up I can switch to Linux, but that time hasn’t come for me yet.

  13. BlackT-shirtGuy

To my windows 10 guys what’s so bad about windows 11 I mean it took me some getting used to but I see nothing wrong with it personally

  14. ed20999

ohh sh!T here we go again…I will start the popcorn for all the comments

  15. marcocet

Windows 11 is 10 but it looks slightly different, it doesn’t matter at all. I upgraded and then forgot I did

  16. LegendNomad

I wonder if people clicking “Get it” without thinking is the real source of all the instances of people claiming 11 “installed itself”.

  17. papercut2008uk

The only reason I upgraded was because steam was going to drop support for windows 7.

Steam still works on windows 7 and I had to upgrade for nothing. It’s not supported anymore but last time I fired up the old windows 7 pc a few weeks ago steam still works.

Rockstar launcher doesn’t so none of their games. But everything else still works. Just no updates (games update through steam still).

  18. One-Philosophy-4473

I personally use windows 11 because of it’s HDR support in the desktop outside of games. Normally without it on everything just looks darker and oversaturated to me.

  19. HolyDori

Why don’t people want Windows 11 ? Same reasons they didn’t want 10 and still got it…

  20. MrMoussab

Let’s get real guys, Windows is a proprietary OS made by a private for-profit company. They ain’t gonna support Windows 10 for life just because we said so. If you don’t like their OS either keep using the no longer updated 10 or move to something else.

You cannot, as a simple user, dictate the direction of the company. All you can do is provide feedback which we know MS don’t give a fuck about it.

  21. fallendiscrete

Used to hate windows 11 before my new build, tbh it’s not as bad as reddit made it sound. Task bar positioning takes 5 seconds to tweak, you can easily uninstall alot of things that required scripts on windows 10, also haven’t seen a single ad like others mentioned in explorer. That too if you own a OLED monitor or display or a newer AMD card – the HDR support on Windows 11 is the only way to get the proper HDR support that works well even with RTX HDR if you have a nvidia gpu.

I also really like the alt tab function but it’s a bit weird where everything feels like its a window mode even when fullscreen but its pretty neat. I do however have to agree with the fact that Windows 10 had better UI and got straight to the point and details, also miss the right click menu but it’s improving over time.

  22. Morokite

I got that like once a month for a year on my laptop. Finally decided to switch over since I had done so on my desktop and it ran fine. But then it was like “Oh you’re particular hardware isn’t supported.” so uhh.. Thanks.

  23. KingofFools3113

I remember when everyone was crying about updating to windows 10.

  24. JaggedMetalOs

Just turn your TPM off in the BIOS if you’re set on keeping 10.

  25. KairoIshijima

I don’t even get this choice with my rust bucket.

  26. burrito_BUSSIN

Just switched to 11 from 10, and it’s definitely got it’s ups and downs. I like it more so far though.

  27. SparsePizza117

God I don’t even want to deal with it. Everything is going to be moved and I’ll have to relearn how to do everything again. Begging that it doesn’t break any of my software or configurations.

  28. RenegadeTechnician

I don’t know what Microsoft expects me to do.

My computer’s hardware doesn’t support Windows 11. And all the pc parts are too expensive due to tariffs, so I can’t just build a new one.

In short, I’m sticking with Windows 10 long after Microsoft ends support for it.

  29. JayCee-XCIII

When this popped up for the first time for me after a login it kinda lagged for a sec and my heart rate shot up because I thought I somehow got ransom-wared or something.

  30. all_is_not_goodman

If you decide to update there’s this script from Chris Titus Tech that you can plug into cmd to get rid of bloatware and add in other options/features Microsoft cut out. 99% sure it doesn’t have malware.

Anyways. Win11 isn’t that bad imo. It runs smoother than win10 probs cuz it hasn’t built up the same amount of bloatware win10 has, yet.

  31. RetanR04

This happened to me too. I was like “they finally fucking did it”

  32. Cryogenics1st

I don’t ever want to watch a scary movie with you holy fuck, bro, it’s just Windows 11.

  33. HighlightDowntown966

I have some outdated software that won’t work right with windows 11. Hasn’t been updated in 7 years. (Custom software/video card driver to make old 240p CRT tvs work within windows).

That’s the only reason I’m hanging on to Windows 10. The OS has so much life left in it. I wish they weren’t sunsetting support.

  34. Badilorum793

11 is ok, i really liked 10 but loved 7.
