eBay offers 30 day buyer protection. A 1070 on eBay runs you $90 or so, a 1070ti about $120.

On one hand, yes, you made a stupid purchase. On the otherhand, thats fine if your girl plays nothing but 10-20 year old games and you can live with the fact that you could have gotten a 20 series for the same price.
That being said, you have had to known you were going to get eaten alive posting about buying a decade old gpu on reddit.

1070 Ti is nice (You can overclock to get 1080 performance) and I had that exact model 2 years ago- Paid the same price as you and everything (150), but this was January 2023 and prices hadn’t completely come down yet from the crypto boom and I couldn’t afford anything better. Nowadays you can get a 2060 Super or 2070 for the same price, and get driver support for years to come along with the ability to run games that require RT support. I handed mine down to my little brother later that year and got myself an RX 6800 XT.
This card is worth 100 at most- Pascal really is showing its age these days, and while it still plays most games at 1080P medium, I don’t think it has much of a future as more and more games require DX 12_2 level features like RT and Mesh Shaders. At least it’s not a base 1070.
It’s also going to lose driver support very soon, latest version of CUDA has already been confirmed to be Pascal’s last, and while that may not matter immediately, it does mean it won’t work past Windows 11 and bugs won’t be fixed.

as an owner of an EVGA 1070ti youd be a fool to buy this card for modern gaming.
BUT if youre like me again and stick to old games, congrats on the good luck.
To summarize:
-OP (or their partner) bought an used 1070 Ti because they “can’t afford to build new”.
-Somehow paid 150USD.
-People pointing out OP has overpaid, as one can get the same card for less than 100USD, or have a better card for the same price.
-OP doubles down and claim they deliberately overpaid “to prevent bottlenecking” (despite even the best AMD FX + 1070 Ti combo are CPU bottlenecked).
-OP becomes invasive, calling people “ignorant” and claims their partner “doesn’t need an amazing RTX card” despite it’s not the point of the debate.
In case anybody misses the point: buying used GPU when you are broke and cannot afford better is perfectly fine. Not getting the full potential out of the limited budget despite you are broke is the mistake here. It’s like building a 800USD budget PC and desiding to use a 200USD 360mm AIO cooler with 5-inch display to cool your 12100F.
I’d say just grow up and own your mistake. We all have made dumb bad purchases and it’s not a big deal. However, dying on that mountain and claiming you have made a wise choice would make you look even more ridiculous IMHO.

Dude, I’m rocking my 1070 till this day. I love it, my old companion is waiting for change anytime soon. But it’s amazing how much this beast lasted and how many stuff runs, I’m currently playing SH2, Hellblade 2, Alan Wake 2, Dead Island 2, The Last of Us remake, all at 1080/1440 60fps with fsr 3 mod and frame gen. It’s unbelievable how this almost 10 y/o graphics cards is capable of.
