Nintendo Switch 2 mouse controls shown off in latest clip makes me wonder why anyone would use it on the home screen

can’t say for sure, but you gotta admit those new menu sounds are clean as hell

  2. gate_of_steiner85

Honestly, I think it looks fine? It’s probably not something I’ll be using very often, but it’s cool that the option is there for those who prefer mouse controls.

  3. Pathik_25

I think some nintendo games would use this feature in their games and would be necessary for some parts of the games

  4. robot-raccoon

If the option wasn’t there this title would be “Nintendo missed a huge opportunity with their mouse controls…”

  5. Calimar777

I was wondering the same thing. Over in the Switch 2 subreddit people in the comments were absolutely losing their minds saying things like “I didn’t think they’d let us use mouse controls on the UI! This is a total game changer!!!” I mean, it’s nice to have the option, but how is that a game changer?

  6. Condescending_Comet

Anyone got the information from the article? Can’t handle pcgamers ads

  7. FlameStaag

The same reason someone with a pc might use a controller over a mouse and keyboard

Preference. And games could easily utilize the feature too.

  8. an800lbgorilla

This is what constitutes a gaming news article nowadays?

  9. Tyrayentali

They look very uncomfortable. Isn’t it way too thin to grip comfortably with your hand and to balance on a surface?

  10. trainwreck42

I think this is the coolest functionality add to the system. Metroid Prime 4 is going to feel so much better than its predecessors

  11. dreck_disp

I just want to be able to use it with first-person shooters.

  12. PeaceBull

If I can control the switch 2 games with a mouse why wouldn’t you give the option to use it wherever?

    It has literally zero downside.

  13. techniqular

Man… so much of this subreddit is “it’s gaming news so it must apply to me” this sounds like a win for accessibility if there are more ways to interface with a device.

  14. ChicagoCowboy

In general, I’m for options, even if I’ll never use them. If they have mouse controls in certain games, why not give you the option for mouse controls in the home menus?

Like yeah you don’t have to use it, but some people might, and its probably not a huge load to build into the system, so why not?

  15. Poopyman80

This article was written by an imbecile.
“Good old buttons” can never win over mouse xontrols in a menu. Literally impossible.

  16. TommyCrooks24

What even is this article? jesus, just writing slop to meet a quota.

  17. Danteynero9

Honestly, looks weird. I’m 100% sure my friends will use the mouse control as much as possible. Hell, I think I would too.

I don’t care if the UI is minimalistic, the guy showed a perfect example of why mouse mode can be good. Want to access something? Fling the controller and get there in no time, instead of pushing the button, what, 7, 8 times.

This is going to be a feature only a handful of games use just like the rumble triggers on the Xbox One controller.

  19. I just want a new version of Mario Paint. I loved this game on my SNES.

  20. The-student-

It’s like how the home menu can be navigated with the touch screen. Most won’t, but it would be weird if you couldn’t.

  21. rebillihp

Idk I think I might use it if we can in the store too scroll and click around instead of moving around with the dpad. If it doesn’t lag like the current one that is

  22. Less_Satisfaction_97

They act like we’re losing anything from this new addition lol

  23. People are finding the most nonsensical reasons to shit on this console.

If it wasn’t a feature people would be saying “why the hell can’t you use the mouse mode on the home menu!!!!???”

Just hating to hate without any logical thinking. If you dislike the pricing of the product atleast just say that. Don’t complain over the most senseless shit like children

  24. bread_of_space

I think the only ones really using that feature will be pc gamers with the nintendo switch 2 emulator lol

  25. davidbernhardt

Mouse will be great for Mario Maker 3 and hopefully a Zelda maker game!

  26. coolbrandon101

If you want to play a gamecube game on the wii you still have to use a WiiMote to go to the game and boot it up before you switch to your gamecube controller. See how silly that was?

  27. randomnin7

Not trying to hate just for the sake of hating, but it seems like we’re plagued with this kind of non-journalism for everything as of late.

Not everything is a news story. Was it groundbreaking news that the Wii U could use the gamepad to navigate the menu as well as the Wii remote?

I understand times are hard and rent is due, but goddang.

  28. blueB0wser

I have no plans of buying the switch 2 at this time, but having more input options is a good thing.

Steam’s big picture mode has been a fantastic feature that is a shining beacon in controller accessibility. If you want to try gyro aim or flick stick, they’re available for you. But you’re likely not going to be forced to use them.

  29. CorellianDawn

They make a note about how the cursor feels jittery and yeah, that was my biggest fear is that we got Wiimote level of accuracy where the cursor is SO sensitive that every micro movement in your wrist and arm comes across on screen. Granted, for Wiimotes, you were holding your arm in the air, which cranked those issues up to 11, but still.

  30. bollyeggs

I personally see the mouse option as a brilliant adaptability for people with physical disabilities, being able to use a controller in a non-traditional sense opens lots of possibilities

Don’t worry, we’ll get a handful of games in the release window that uses this feature then never see it again.
