Almost 10 years later, Arkham Knight is still one of the best looking games you can play today

Publishers don’t care anymore. Quantity over quality in this generation.

  2. Sjknight413

Even more impressive is that it’s running on Unreal Engine 3, the dominant engine of the seventh console generation.

  3. Funny_Debate_1805

Not really. Almost every new game looks way better.

Remember when console generations meant a jump in tech? Imagine making a post about a psx game still being one of the best looking in the twilight years of the PS2 ☺️😂

Imagine putting effort into your game instead of slapping assets in UE5 together, play testing it with a 5090, DLSS + FG on 60FPS and calling it a day.

  6. surface33

Lol, i think you havent played many recent games. Love arkham but this is simply not true

  7. TGB_Skeletor

it’s impressive that UE3 still looks better than most UE5 games

    UE5 is a fucking joke

  8. Oh, seems like someone just don’t play new games

Cyberpunk beats it but it actually is still one of the best looking games. I feel like a lot of people played it on console because it looks crazy on pc. It looks better than RDR2 which people still say is the prettiest game. So many new games have this super blurry look that once you notice, you can’t unsee

When I got this on PC with max settings and shaders the visuals blew my mind. I don’t even play the game half the time, I just swing around the rooftops looking at the scenery

Not sure it is still one of the best, but very good nonetheless

I would say the biggest things these games have going for them, is nailing the atmosphere. Even City looks good still, and I think the games benefited from the gloomy atmosphere (also less to worry about with performance when their are no citizens out and about)

Let’s not forget the game wasy hot mess for a year before major optimization updates came.

Asylum and City are just as impressive considering their age.

Unfortunately still running in 900p on Xbox.

Definitely a beautiful game but saying it looks better than most games (even if played on PC) is a huge exaggeration imo.

  14. No_Dot_7136

No it isn’t. If you think it is, then you don’t know what you’re looking at.

  15. Good looking game sure but one of the best? Hardly disagree

  16. AtlasWriggled

The art direction for this entire series was top notch.

  17. neillsong

Playing through it again right now! Never disappoints!

  18. Nurgle_Marine_Sharts

It has great art style, and it had pretty stunning visuals when it launched. But no, it’s not one of the best looking games you can play today lol. Not even close.

iirc it was a mess on launch.

    >Four months after it first launched and was subsequently removed from sale for being an abominable mess, Batman: Arkham Knight has finally reappeared on Steam. It’s ready, finished, good to go. Or at least that’s what Warner Bros. say.

    >It isn’t.

    >…..
With everything turned down to low or off, Arkham Knight is *still* not stable outdoors. Performance is obviously improved over the higher settings, but continues to dip during busy scenes, while driving in the Batmobile and occasionally while flying about.

    >The performance problems in the open world are made even more noticeable by their absence indoors or outside the most built-up parts of Gotham. With every setting, I have no problem hitting a generally stable 50-60FPS, as long as I’m not flitting about in the open world. Unfortunately, the open world makes up a large part of the game.

    >It seems pretty clear that, since the interim patch, no major work has been done to improve performance.

Arkham series is something else… still remember playing City for the first time like it’s yesterday.

  21. Niklaus15

Still I prefer Arkham City, Knight used the Batmobile way too much

  22. SimSamurai13

I feel like the people saying it isn’t either haven’t played the game in ages or only played it on console because you are 100% right

I replay it often and on PC with everything turned up at high FPS it looks genuinely incredible

It has some of the best looking water in any game somehow, it’s packed full of detail absolutely everywhere. You’ll obviously be able to tell it’s a decade old game if you look closely but that’s really not an issue

It being set at night and in lots of darkness obviously helps with hiding the rough edges but they did an incredible job with the art direction, all the neon lights in the rain, all the small details like how the rain looks on the batsuit and how it flings off the cape as you start to glide etc etc

I could go on as it’s one of my favourite games of all time, but it is 100% one of the best looking games of all time

  23. It holds up well thanks to the art style and well used lighting, but that is quiet the over statement.
