Well its the new trump market/orange Jesus as America would call him.
Every day there is price changes new hardware or something tossed into the sale bin then you got “old” pre built’s being sold cheaply.Tariffs forced this or that with new laws like gpus being called a threat to America security or intel if there not made in America we should attack them crap causes market prices to go crazy also.
That video you mentioned no doubt lasted a week before the part cost went up again and is now irrelevant. You even got intel tossing out there core ultra cpus for a new socket/line next year so any videos with that cpu pointless sense this year is the end support year no upgrade paths for that socket at least you got 3 gens on alder lake platform.

So in this meme format, you build a PC, and then see a better PC for the same money, and then… don’t use your PC?

Usually those youtubers are like : “this 9800x3d which is like $700 but we found a super cheap one from an undisclosed source for like $50. And it even comes in a sealed box with proper warranty.”

Take the next 6 years to learn more about pc so you can enjoy your next upgrades.. but in the mean time game away
wtfuckfred
Idk, it’s hard to beat the prices I found for the parts I bought tbh
At least for me half the fun was finding the parts at good prices, the other half was building the pc :’)

Skill issue. I spent at least 5 times more time on finding the cheapest / best value options, than on the actual time planning my PC.

Don’t watch videos after buying the pc, actually do with it what you bought it for.

Component prices vary by location and availability a lot
Problem is Americans don’t include taxes as part of the cost of the build
So for 1200$ build you need to add about 100$ in the USA in VAT
And WAY more in any other place in the world

Thats why I keep a mindset: after I made a purchase, I never look back because there will always be better priced/ better choices than the ones we purchased, as long as we are happy with our current purchases, its fine to not compare
Applicable to anything we purchase btw

or YouTuber makes a video on a $1200 build from MicroCenter, but you live in the UK.
I’m always jealous of folk that live near a MicroCenter.

I don’t get this whole thing where a arbitrary number is thrown out and then to compromise to fit in that budget. The only time I can see this is when you have a immediate need and your budget is your budget. Like if the midrange pc you want will be $2000 then it will be $2000 and you should keep saving. Buy the minimum to no fail rate stuff in the interim, get your “dream” case and buy your fans. Get the monitor for the build. Get your desk, your chair, your speakers or headphones. Jeez even your mouse and keyboard. Most of these fools don’t budget for any of that and don’t realize a real $1200 setup is a Series X or PS5 Pro.
ashrules901
Honestly you can’t feel bad. Because not everybody has access to “local unique electronic dump where you can get monitors for free” or a friend that just randomly gives you 32gb of RAM. At least that’s what I find a lot of the YouTuber people say for suggestions on how to budget your build.

AllMyFrendsArePixels
A $1200 *build* is almost always going to be better than a $1200 *buy,* because if you buy a $1200 PC you’re only getting a $900 PC and paying someone $200 to build it and another $100 markup for margin, whereas a $1200 build is just a $1200 build.
