Get used to it because it continues in marriage.

I will hang out with my wife for a bit, start hinting that I’m going to play video games. She says it’s all good, that she’s going to read or go to the gym or cook or something.

5 minutes into the first round, there she is with a silly grin on her face poking around the corner telling me she wants to hang out, or will just start telling me a story.

    >”Do you need help for something?”

I hope you’re playing some ranked Sesame Street.

After I explained to my mum that leaving online games is disrespectful to your teammates she understood and accommodated for it.

In general she’d understand and accept if you made a good enough argument.

I still had to do the chores after the game was over tho.

If your parents did this you needed to set boundaries. If you ever stopped what you were doing to help, that encourages that behavior. It’s the same stuff parents do to their young kids, at some point you need to grow up and start doing it back.
