  1. How do you have the best takes on everything, man-

They really need to bring that back. I’m so tired of not being able to spend hours in a character creator to avoid doing homework, it’s so boring

  2. Even bo1 had customization, albeit to a lesser extent, but still. People liked the customization, and games should honestly bring it back. I hope Halo changes it back to like it was in Reach, as i still hold hope for the franchise (even if i maybe shouldn't 😭)

  3. One of the reasons is definitely money the other reason is is that “if you give a player an inch they will take a mile” if you understand what I’m trying to say

  4. It particularly hurts that Halo did away with personalized emblems and stuff. I was 5 years old when Xbox Live became a thing, and I made an emblem in Halo 2 to go with the gamertag my dad gave me. He eventually took over my old gamertag, but I kept the emblem for as long as I could use it. Still use it in MCC. But in the 343 era I'm forced to use stuff in their games that I have no personal connection to whatsoever and that a ton of other people also use.

  5. I feel like they think they know what we want more than we do, kind of a "i know what's best for you" type thing. That's just my opinion tho.

  6. It’s probably for the reason “Oh it’ll take too long to develop” which kinda just points out multiple flaws in todays industry the biggest games arnt usually given enough time to be made often resulting in the loss of features it’s also probably to insensitive the purchase of microtransactions

  7. i know it's not an FPS, but Armored Core VI has an extremely in-depth customization system, to the point where it's a step away from spray painting your mechs yourself.
Best part is, absolutely none of it is paywalled.

But if you want an example that's more achievable by AAA devs who need a microtransaction quota, Warframe does both skins and customizable armor pieces. For as great as Warframe is with its micros, I'm not as much of a fan towards how much is locked behind platinum (especially color pallets), but if you get into trading or are willing to spend that money, there's a significant amount of options to choose from, and plenty you can still earn without needing to engage with plat at all.

  8. It is simply harder to monetize the previous system, flat out. Do you seel individual gloves, glasses, boots, and headsets in the store? How do you price things that small? Whatre the chances any individual item sells when its that granular? You stand to make more money axing that sysyem, and selling the aesthetic players would use those systems to create themsevles, wholecloth

  9. Takes more effort, and it's harder to monetize in a way that wouldn't piss off even more people than current monetization schemes do.

  10. i dont think the AAA industry is in a healthy enough state to be able to do stuff like that. these days, asking for a finished game is apparently too much

  11. Micro-transactions but I also think the custom emblems and camos was because you give people a blank canvas some people are going to fill it with some really offensive stuff

  12. To streamline the monetization system of development as fully custom characters and emblems requires more systems working in tandem, and more areas where a game needs to be ironed out on whether it's working as intended as more complexity means more potential errors.

On one hand it does help a player identify player characters more easily due to silhouettes, but that point is moot with thousands of whole body cosmetics like in Fortnite. It must be easier to have all in one costumes as a cosmetic, as opposed to modular outfits, especially when they get as granular as older CoD games.
