Yikes. So my PC will still run Switch games better. Rather frightening.
Not surprising. Leaks from years put it above PS4, maybe borderline PS4 Pro. And that’s where 1050Ti usually lands.

Nintendo themselves always makes the best use of their own hardware anyways so it really doesn’t matter.
Why wouldnāt they just use AMD hardware and get it to like 3060 levels?

The tech specs are far from impressive but Nintendo does a great job with gameplay most of the time regardless. That said Nintendo in general just doesnāt appeal to me much even if I usually enjoy myself when I actually play
Iām going to be extremely skeptical of this analysis and genuinely wait for real hardware to get in actual hands on before claiming itās comparable to a 1050ti.
too bad snapdragon was not good back when switch 1 was in development because a snapdragon 8 elite based switch with custom inhouse dev would have been best of both worlds
I expect it to get current Gen games for maybe 2 years before the 3rd party support drys up. Just like what happened with the original Switch. The Nintendo fanboys will continue to eat it up regardless.
And then there’s the Nintendo fans channel like “we finally will have 4k, 60 fps and even higher on switch 2”
Until we actually get the hardware in our hands I doubt it’s like that, sofar there’s been 3 different gpus thrown around, its custom hardware so it could be better or worse but we won’t know yet it’s all speculation off the leaked board

A GTX 1050 Ti with RTX features? Isn’t that basically what a Steam Deck is in terms of performance?
If this chip was developed a few years back why did they delay it so long? Maybe software fell way behind? Itās hard to get excited about mobile Ampere in 2025.
For context, this would mean it should be about 7x more powerful than the current switch.
I don’t really like this comparison – it might be close as far as a single benchmark score goes, but a heavily downclocked RTX 2050 is a better baseline because it’s an architecture match, you can make predictions with it. Ampere doesn’t really behave like Pascal.
Yall acting all brand new over this, everyone known this from the jump. Itās gonna be older less powerful hardware made as streamlined as possible.
Is this a AAA game machine meant to stay on pace with current consoles? No and if you thought it was or wanted it to be get something else.
Third party support at launch will be gangbusters. But will stagnate as the console ages. These are all facts we understand and accept.
I appreciate handhelds a lot, so much so that the 3ds is in my top 3 best consoles of all time. This is pretty impressive for a handheld console, but part of me wishes that Nintendo would go a proper home console route next time. I know pure power isn’t their MO, however I would love to see an up-to-date Nintendo once again. It just feels like a winning ticket to have Nintendo first party games with competing specs.
When will people learn that its not apples to apples comparison?
Different SOC, different technology, different capabilities and optimization done for games.
Also, benchmarks are not translated to actual performance in games, as was proven yet again in recent discussion in r/nvidia with previous driver (the one the f-ed up temperature after resuming from sleep) which increased benchmark score in steel nomad about 5-7%.
Silly people were praising nvidia for āunlockingā hidden potential in their cards only to find out that there is 0 to negative impact in irl gaming.
What about the wattage and thermals? Low power mobile devices are fairly constrained by both. A quick comparison between laptop and desktop GPUs should put your expectations in check.
1050 Ti 4 GB is one of my all time favorite cards. Very efficient to the extent that it is completely board powered, and yet it punched severely above its weight. I miss cards like these. I still used one to drive two additional screens in addition to my main card on my workstation until earlier this year. I got it in… 2016?
The specs are not impressive at all in 2025. But what is the point of discussing the specs really? It’s Nintendo. It’s the exclusives that sell this console, and they’re not targeting the most hardware hungry tech anyway.
1050 Ti is weak as fuck. I think a 1060 6gb was more in line with a PS4.
