In chasing the live service/latest trend dragon, EA starved another promising studio of resources to the point they could barely function? Noooo, that’s so unlike EA! /s

Anthem released 5 years ago. How are they blaming the failure of DA on that shitstorm.
Least-Path-2890
As someone who loved DA Origins and KOTOR, I’m so over Bioware and their content whining about their games failing.
MazaFox94
It’s kind of sad to me that we can’t get the “legendary” remaster treatment on these games. Though I’m sure there are amazing texture mods out there now. I feel like folks will eventually gloss over DA as time goes on over say Oblivion Remaster et al thinking they’re the same sort of experience.
ZachBuford
I’ll still never forgive them for killing **Mass Effect** for Anthem.
Iggy_Slayer
So first it was mass effect’s fault for dragon age’s struggles, now it’s anthem.
Tune in next week when we blame sonic chronicles.

Anthem is over six years old.
Korvun
Starved it? Of what, quality writers? Pretty sure that writing team was pretty full up on their own farts to ever be called ‘starved’.

I can follow this if Veilguard and Andromeda only had visual, dialogue, and performance issues with rushed endings. But fundamentally the games were failures as sequels and felt like cheap knockoffs.
In both games your character is a random goober expected to overcome impossible odds with no building of your story or team. They built the world around the protagonist and it’s created a disjointed feeling that keeps people from getting invested into the game.
Also both had combat that felt incredibly old after just a few hours.

I find it hard to believe anyone was focused on Anthem
Blood-Lord
Didn’t anthem also suck? DA:O was amazing, unsure about after that.
No-Pollution1149
Crazy how BioWare was able to nail gameplay in Anthem but failed miserably at every other aspect. Anthem should truly be studied as I can’t think of a similar circumstance. How you nail the foundation but do so poorly at everything else that the game fails smh
BadDogSaysMeow
It would make sense if the game was glitchy or badly optimised.
But making it a melee Mass Effect was a decision independent of funding.
The Pixar aesthetics were a decision independent of funding.
And the **terrible** writing was also a decision independent of funding.
The only thing that could’ve been affected by lack of funding/support was the complete destruction of the choices from previous games.
And sure it is a **HUGE** flaw of Veilguard, but the game would’ve still been bad because of the aforementioned problems.
Dopa-Down_Syndrome
If they were so focused with Anthem then how did it release the way it did and get abandoned within the same month of release?
Of all the things to try and deflect with, you have to use Anthem lol this is crazy.
Sabetha1183
Pretty much everything I’ve heard from BioWare since about Andromeda has been along the lines of “a bunch of higher ups fucked up so the veterans from another team had to come in and salvage what they could at the last minute” followed by “veterans fed up and now they’re leaving the company”.
It’s not a surprise that the company just became more or less unable to function anymore after a decade of being hilariously mismanaged and bleeding talent.
introverted_empanada
BioWare has been a shell of its former self pretty much sinceThe launch of ME3. All the key people are gone, the founders, the writers. They keep getting a new rotation of employees that are leaderless
Netsuko
Too focused on Anthem? Well the game surely didn’t feel like it. Which sucks because I was SO hyped for it.
Dannyboy765
It’s this simple. They have incompetent management, and they’ve lost a lot of their talent. I don’t think they’ll ever return to their glory days. They just need to accept that they are a mediocre game developer now.
ObscuraArt
I saw some of the DA dev team images from 2024. They weren’t starved.
jjkm7
Nah that’s a shit excuse. If the problem with DATV was about the quality of the game then sure, but the game clearly had a lot of effort and time put into it. It was just shit overall.
RachelProfilingSF
I guess the writers that would have been assigned to Dragon Age had their organs harvested by the EA Executives after Anthem tanked. Their surviving children were handed a stack of rejected “Superfriends” scripts and told “write a Dragon Age or you’re next”
Great_White_Samurai
Bioware is dead, they need to stop making games.
MyKillYourDeath
That’s why anthem is still going strong. It had all the dev support
ImpenetrableYeti
DA sucked after origins. I have no idea how they find everyone else to blame
somethingmoronic
Focused on Anthem? That… Doesn’t track…
FlamingGnats
Veilguard devs and writers will never accept that they just made a subpar product.
weedblunt69
LMAO at the deflection.

EA is the architect of their own failure time after time, keep laying people off though that’ll definitely help
