PS3 and Xbox 360 were pretty damn powerful at their release. Unlike the PS4 and Xbox One, both of which were underpowered at launch compared to the technology of the time, but did have good amount of memory.
I am kind of glad Rockstar skipped out on that generation and designed GTA 6 around the “next gen” consoles.
From the looks of that 2nd trailer, they are pushing that 33ms frame buffer target HARD.
GTA 6 will be the best looking game for the next 5 years, and will hold its own for the next 10.
Sayaka__
Vice City is from 2002 why should I feel like it’s only 12 years old when we have 2025? I don’t get it. (I’m 33 years old if that’s relevant)

Graphics peaked. I seriously dont see the point in further advancing graphics, much less with the state of the economy, ecology and the industry. All we are doing is making power requirements higher for more complex lighting processing that you need to go back and forth to notice a modicum of difference. Its reminds me of watching a show from 2009 looking sharp and modern, but then you see the cast in current year and they are old people.

Maybe if people would stop playing it… 🤷🏽♂️

The ps4 is only a couple years from being considered retro btw

GTA 5 came out when I was in 8th grade, now I’m teaching high school and I’m still playing it lol

It should be GTA IV instead of vice city. But I agree with the overall message.

I remember when GTAV came out on the 360. Crazy to think 12 years ago was genuinely that. I think PS2 or GameCube when I think 12 years ago. XD

GTA V was light years ahead when it came out, it still looks unbelievably good. With the RT stuff it looks crazy even now.

Technical marvel it was for the time too. The basically go what should have been a ps4 / xbox one exclusive game to run on what was essentially last gen hardware by that point. All while pushing some pretty at the time cutting edge graphical techniques and optimizations. People are still learning cool stuff from GTA 5’s source code.

Ok👍

Uhhh ok. Vice City was a PS2 game in very early 2000s…..would NOT have thought that was what gaming looked like 12 years ago during PS3/4 era……but OK lol. You’re talking literally generations difference.
