So I'm currently looking into a gaming laptop to take overseas for around 6 months. I'll be on an exchange in Japan, so I'm looking for something that can do everything I do at home without requiring me to bring a whole desktop overseas. Currently, I play AAA games, produce music, and also do video editing as I'm a film student. As such, I really need a little bit of everything in a (fairly) portable package. I also have access to some discounts that will allow me to get both of these laptops for around $4400AUD at a specific store, JB Hi-Fi. That brings me to this decision:
I can't decide between the zephyrus G16 5080 or the HP Omen max 5080. The Zephyrus seems to have better build quality due to the aluminum as well as a thinner/lighter chassis, however the compromise is a lower TGP in the 5080. Alternatively, the HP Omen Max is slightly thicker, but still relatively thin for a Gaming laptop – it also allows a higher TGP, meaning higher frames. I'm not sure specifically how much of a difference it would make though. Both have 32GB ram, and the CPU's are pretty back to back in a few areas. The HP Omen has a 24 core 275hx whilst the zephyrus has a 16 core 285H. The 275 is a generation below, however I feel like the higher core count means it'll give me more power in CPU intensive programs such as my music software. The last major difference is the storage – the zephyrus has 2TB whilst the HP Omen only has 1TB. Believe it or not, it's actually a fairly big deal for me. Ideally, I'd love to dedicate 1TB to games and the second TB to music/video software. From experience, I'm aware just how much storage production software eats up, with plugins and software extensions sometimes bringing a single music app to a couple hundred GB. Games are no different. I'm worried that if I get the HP Omen, which doesn't seem to have upgradable storage from what I can tell, I'll quickly be trading apps and micro managing my storage. I won't let it be my final decision maker, but it's still a fairly big deal. The final point for me to add is that I can't customise either laptop – I only have access to what's sold on the store shelves.
So that brings me to the conclusion, which laptop do you guys think I should buy?
TL;DR both laptops are trading blows in a number of areas, overall what's the better buy if I want portable high performance? I also want it to last a number of years

Hello Pandora7234, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)!
We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!
To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!
Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!
