I think that Arasaka knows what data this chip contains and that fully recovering it requires killing the host. Militech, on the other hand, only wants to recover the chip and didn’t expect or know about the consequences of keeping the host alive

with cons: >!you can’t use advanced combat cyberware anymore. Also in case of V, (almost) all off V’s friends will forget that V exist. Seeing a someone like V turns to a literal NPC really looks like something worse than death. Not counting the loss of friends.!<
MAJ_Starman
I prefer the Star Ending or the one where you raid Arasaka by yourself, but between these two, if Goro is alive, Arasaka all the way. I think Goro would at least push a little for you to get a new body, while Reed is a lot more complicated.
PoisonHIV
I think they might be able they just didn’t. They gain nothing from letting V go free and healthy.
Plane-Education4750
I’m pretty sure Arasaka absolutely can surgically remove it, they just chose not to in order to manipulate V
InukaiKo
I think the result of removal was actually the same, but militech just kept you in medical facility for years to keep you alive, instead of just sending you to live out last months alone
Dveralazo
Oh,Arasaka *can* do it.

In the Devil ending, Saburo Arasaka gets his second life via the Relic. And Arasaka has a perfect guinea pig in V for what happens if the Relic malfunctions.
I fully believe that Arasaka was just using V as an experiment, so that any actually successful Relic treatments can be used on Saburo instead
erdelf
funny how many people just blatantly throw conspiracy theories to badmouth Arasaka.. who are the only ones even minorly interested in helping you in their ending.

I think the Neural Matrix is the most important factor that lets V survive in the Tower ending, even then V is left without access to combat chrome.
Pliskkenn_D
Oh, Arasaka absolutely can. But why would they want to.
Conroadster
I mean it wasn’t militech it was the neural matrix, a one shot item that they can’t remake. Doesn’t really scream deeper understanding to me

There is a difference. I played The Devil ending a long time ago; since it’s dark and depressing, I can’t insist that my memory is correct. However, from my perspective, Arasaka put him on hold because they couldn’t safely keep V alive with normal functionality.
NUSA took a riskier approach but effectively crippled V in the process.
So whose approach is better – you decide.
P.S. I never had any doubts that Arasaka would deliver what was in the contract. He was approved by top management, only to be instantly forgotten, becoming just a record in bureaucracy. They don’t care about the money in this particular case; the irony of the ending is that V wanted to be a legend but ended up being just another Arasaka client with a discounted coupon for surgery and a construct locked in Mikoshi, effectively swapping roles with Johnny.
Kami_Slayer2
Millitech > Arasaka.
Even the way the staff and doctors treat you in both endings is night and day. The fia surgeons respect you enough to shake your hand, talk with respect and show excitement when you wake up.
Compared to that saka bitch forcing me on treadmills..
