Paradox has been in decline the past few years. I hope they make a come back with this one.

Man, I can’t wait for them to jam the game to the brim with DLC and scope creep to the point where the game doesn’t even look or play like it used to, making me dislike the game after having spent hundreds of dollars on it.
CyberSosis
Who wants to bet how many DLC will be there
Scorpio989
Paradox business model is essentially just selling paid mods made in-house.
Rootspam
Oh look gang, another incoming Paradox DLC fest. Yey!!!!
zmbslyr
This feels like a direct response to Anno 117 to me.
BaggyHairyNips
Can’t wait for this to come out and then wait a year for the major problems to be fixed, and then wait a few months for a 50% sale to play it.
_Koke_
So tired of trying to get into a game and having to pay hundreds of dollars in DLCs just to play with people

Europa Universalis: Rome all over again, or does Paradox have something new up it’s sleeve?
I’m interested, but if it follows the typical gazillion DLC business model of Paradox I’m voting with my wallet and won’t buy it.
VLamperouge
So how many years and how many dlcs will it be until it will have the same features EU4 has now?
ktoid
if the dev diaries are a sign, this one won’t be too barebones. lets wait and see
WhiteLama
As someone with 6k hours in EU4, it’ll take one hell of a sequel for me to move on at.
At least I’ve gotten my moneys worth with EU4, but still!

A lot of broke ass mf in the comments. This is an adult game for gamers that make a living. Even buying every DLC the playtime and quality just worth it
Cobare
Shit makes no sense to me gamers are a group of people impossible to please; as opposed to them following the model and that they do would you rather they just made a new game every year or 2?
At least, with the model that Paradox uses you will be getting a decade of care from the devs in the game including FREE content. Nonetheless one of these kind of games benefits from having years of support, and that’s not to mention features, regions, or cultures in these games that are underdeveloped or not represented how people like.
This is Stellaris ended up with far deeper espionage mechanics; this is how they ended reworking a couple base cultures in AOW4 for free. This is how in a game that used to be about feudal kings you can play as the Doge of Venice or Genghis Khan. I for one would rather keep paying for a game I know I enjoy with more and more features than buying a revamp every couple years or so. The pricing still kinda sucks tho

If you’re looking to get into the series, is 4 the way to go? Or one of the earlier ones?
And which would be the must have dlcs?
MaveZzZ
I don’t really understand people complaining about paradox dlc model. It’s not like you HAVE to buy them to enjoy the game. You can enjoy basic game and they also release major updates with new features and mechanics with every DLC that are free and integrated with game already. So DLC is a way to extend your experience with game beyond that, if you don’t buy it you miss extra content but it doesn’t mean game become unplayable, it’s still the same game. And DLCs released in that model let them continue working on new features so… What’s the downside here?

An announcement for an announcement for a game.

OH MY GOD
Regulus_Immortalis
The only thing keeping me from pirating most of their games is the steam workshop. Hopefully they won’t take mechanics away present on the previous game and introduce them on the new game as dlc….
Hegueplantine
Their subscription model solved the DLC issue for me: now I can put in a full-DLC Paradox game as many hours as a AAA game for cheaper.
dkayy
Nice, I just finished collecting my EU4 dlc.
Delnac
Maybe the technology is ready for them to implement rebindable keys this time.
