Virtuos managed to create what I saw in my mind playing 20 years ago. Love the updated design of these gates.

And if you stood back a bit more you’d see all the weird edge lighting issues and bland looking terrain, and lack of light interacting with stuff properly. Every time I see one of these posted, it’s zoomed in that little bit more further to hide the flaws.

Fiiine you convinced me I’ll buy Oblivion again for the 3rd time.

This is the first post in the new queue of this subreddit. Can ten people upvote this comment so I can get past the mod’s stupid little “you can’t contribute to this community yet” gateway?

Too bad the oblivion dungeons themselves are so samey and boring.

I like them a lot, but I feel like once I’m inside I am just speed running to the end and it’s basically the same layout for each. Am I missing something?

Is there like really valuable plants or hidden areas I’m missing?

Overall, Oblivion feels just as intimidating and spooky as I remember it when I was young. The monsters, lava and scary Soule tunes brought me back to being TERRIFIED of a hell world in such stark contrast with the light-medieval landscapes of the rest of the game. A crowning achievement from Virtuos, making me scared again.

Yessss! Of all the improvements this is what I’ve been screaming about. The gates themselves as well as the pockets of the Deadlands within just look so sick. The sigil towers are amazing!

I swear they pop up quite suddenly now too. I was doing the DB quest where you gotta kill the retired guard captain with the rose. I went into his cottage outside Leyawin and when I stepped out there was a fresh gate in the pond behind the cottage complete with stone bridge to the shore.

Same thing happened when I visited Deepscorn. Went inside and when I came out it was sitting directly on the opposite shore I’d just come from.

Not sure if it’s a bug but it sure is terrifying.

Just wish UE 5 didn’t have sooo many performance issues

The lighting in general is insane, this entire game looks like a cutscene as long as you’re not talking to an NPC.
