Street Fighter 6 has really blown up in Japan in terms of popularity, and that appears to apply to those grinding out the game’s ranked mode the hardest too.
Now that SF6’s seventh ranked phase is complete, we can see which characters have been reigning supreme online these past few months and that most of the players come from Street Fighter’s home country in particular.
Street Fighter 6’s Legend rank denotes the top 500 players with the highest Master Rate point totals to which two players reached an impressive total of 2,500 MR this time around.
The top 10 consisted of 9 competitors waving the Japanese flag including Akutagawa’s Manon and Hikaru’s A.K.I. in the number one and two spots.
JP, two Mais, Ed, Akuma, Luke Zangief and Ryu made up the rest.
By the final count, 396 out of the 500 Legend players have their region set to Japan, which equates to 79.2% of all the top ranks astonishingly.
For comparison, China came in second with 36 Legend players followed by South Korea with 22.
The United States only had 5 different players end up in the highest ranks, but Hellashes made it up there twice with Mai and Manon.
As for the characters, Mai ran away with the rankings by a long shot with 59 players getting her into Legend, which is almost more than the second and third places combined.
JP was the runner up at 31 while Cammy and M. Bison both had 29 with Ken, Zangief, Kimberly, Blanka, Chun-Li, Akuma, Rashid and Ed each having at least 20.
The other Fatal Fury star, Terry Bogard, was actually on the opposite end of the spectrum considering he and Lily each only had 8 out of the 500 Legends.
So there’s a pretty clear divide between the top and lowest characters, but at least everyone is showing up in multiples.
With the newest ranking phase, new Master Rewards are now available to acquire in Street Fighter 6 over the next few months.
