It’s actually the opposite. A gaming laptop without a charger is cooler because it uses lower wattage. It is intentional that the laptop limits its performance if you use the battery. You can disable the settings, but the battery will run out quicker.

Real. I have an HP Omen and that fucker is a desktop in spandex

I enjoy playing PC games on my laptop in bed, next to my wife, or in the airport when my flight gets delayed.
Never had problems finding an outlet when I want to game. I would never try to game on battery alone.
Not having to go down in my basement to play PC games is the freedom I pay for with a gaming laptop.

They have their use cases, not everyone is jobless sitting in their mancave 24/7.

Ironically, kinda the opposite. For most laptops, the battery can’t supply enough wattage to the gpu and cpu. So, it heavily throttles performance, but typically doesn’t make it overheat (unless its vents are being blocked).
Granted, even with the gpu disabled, windows will still suck down power and drain my battery incredibly fast, and the laws of thermodynamics still apply, so good luck getting a laptop that doesn’t overheat when plugged in lmao.

it still perform compare to an unplug PC

You can play games in bed , and you can use it as a regular laptop when unplugged

My gaming laptop is perfect for switching to playing games on my bed or taking it to work or a friends place to play games instead of lugging an entire rig around.
Jokes aside, I never game with my laptop unplugged. I use it for laptop things like Word, Excel, and web browsing. It only lasts about 2-3 hours (that Ryzen 9 eats the battery like anything), but there are gaming laptops that can last a good 8 hours of regular use unplugged (not gaming, obviously).

I guess power banks don’t exist either.

portables be weak as hell but with an awesome battery life or strong but might as well not have a battery at all

both gaming laptops and desktops have their use cases. while I only use a desktop, I’d love to get a laptop for times where I’m out of the house

If you want good performance whilst unplugged, you’re best going for an APU, rather than anything with a discrete GPU.
