Wondering if anyone here has recommendations for a good heavy duty desk that is capable of supporting the weight of my computer monitor arms on the back and some very heavy Monstertech HOTAS mounts on the front. I've heard good things about Desky, but they seem to use horizontal planks glued together, and I'm not sure they would support the weight of my HOTAS mounts hanging off the front, in addition to all the other peripherals. Ideally I could buy this desk in australia rather than having it shipped in from overseas. Thanks in advance!

Desky also sell monitor mounts, so they should be able to support your monitor arms? Not sure about the HOTAS mounts though.
Have you checked out Ikea? I bought a standing desk from them 4 or 5 years ago and it has been able to support three monitor arms, two keylight mounts and a microphone boom arm with no problems. I’m not sure if they sell the same model anymore, but I took a quick look and they seem very similar. At least with them, you can check them out in person if you happen to have a store near you.
Edit: Sorry, should have mentioned that I’m in Australia too. 🙂
Hey,
Our Dual Sit Stand Desks are rated at 140Kg on top of the Desktop, so this set up would be fine.
You may have had experience with other desktops that use a hollow core MDF, which would certainly NOT support this sort of thing, but our Melamine range is a solid core resin base which is extremely solid and can easily take this sort of set up.
Let me know if you have any questions
I had a similar desk to the one pictured, and it began to sag in the middle with my 49″ and two 27″ stacked on top.
But the legs were solid metal and very sturdy, so I got a solid oak, very thick kitchen work top cut to the size I wanted (1.8 m x 0.7m) and I reused the legs and attached it to them.
Unbelievably strong, two large adults can very easily stand on it.
You can always go with the old faithful IKEA Karlby countertop board on top of a couple Alex drawer units. Mine has held up for years under various HOTAS and wheel setups with a heavy triple monitor mount.
Buy the Alex from Ikea. Take the top off and replace with real wood from bunnings. Cheap, sturdy and looks like fantastic. I did it here
