Serious question: Did anyone else feel like their V one hundred percent just ended up calling Mama Welles 'Mamá' by the time we see her again after the post intro timeskip? I lost my mom recently, but even before then I still got big 'just call her mom' vibes from Guadalupe. Hells, maybe it's because my own mom, when she was with us, had a habit of 'adopting' my friends, especially the ones like V with either no family or a super crap one. So in the spirit of upcoming Mothers' Day, let's celebrate our collective mom with Mama Welles!

I wanted V to have sex with her in that dirty motel. He still could have called her mama.
It’s never said what happened to V’s parents beforehand, but I always got the sense that they may have been V’s mother and father, but they weren’t V’s mommy and daddy: Mama Welles and Vik were.
It always bothered me that we never got a proper follow-up with Mama Welles after the funeral. V basically becomes part of her family. she takes you in, helps you along with Jackie get on your feet in Night City, treats you like her own kid. And then after Jackie’s death? Nothing. No chance to check in on her, no option to tell her about the Relic, no moment to just sit down for one last meal together.
That could’ve been one of the most powerful moments in the game. Imagine sitting at her table, eating that same stew Jackie loved, telling her about how you’re dying too. Letting her know why you’ve been distant. Letting her grieve properly, not just for Jackie, but for you too. After everything she did for V, she deserved that closure.
The game gives us all these big emotional moments with Johnny and the romances, but forgets about the woman who was basically V’s second mom. Jackie would’ve wanted us to look after her, and V just… doesn’t. Feels like a missed opportunity for some real, grounded humanity in all that cyberpunk chaos. And the fact that V doesn’t even call her in some of the endings just feels pretty shitty.
I just wanna give her a damn hug.
