Evil Dead: The Game is being removed from sale just three years after it launched

  1. TV and Movie IP rights are expensive…

    In other news?

  2. ToranjaNuclear

TIL there’s an evil dead the game

  3. braumbles

I remember Epic giving this away for free within a year of it being released.

Its crazy how there are Iike hundreds of fully online games that have been running since the early 2000 and have like 20 players per day, and they’re still up. But now everything that does not do a Fortnite level of success gets removed from existing after a few years.

  5. Turdsley

I’d love a new Evil Dead single player game.

  6. StarRiddle

Wow, that sucks. One of the few multiplayer only games I played that I enjoyed before the hackers took it over anyway.

  7. BlackMagic0

It was actually fun. Not great. But we had a good time.

  8. yeahwellokay

Didn’t this happen with Friday the 13th and most of these horror multiplayer games?

  9. Hunter585

Ah yes, the evil dead game, where demon was near impossible to play,

I’m not surprised, sucks to see it go though

I wish this game would be remade but without an expensive IP. One of the best 4v1 horror games Mechanically.

  11. mnl_cntn

Sigh, this is why I don’t buy the movie games. It’s ridiculous that this happens

  12. doctor_x

I’m a hardcore Deadite, and even I found the game pretty uninspiring.

Probably my favorite asymmetric game since Depth. Every demon was a blast to play, I sucked as the Witch, but I still played as her because puking on people is entertaining.

they need to stop these 1 topic games honestly and just make one called “Collection of Horrors” that is just all these 1 topic 4v1 type games. Texas chainsaw, Friday the 13th, evil dead, predator, all dead within a year. make it a collection so i dont feel like spending $40-60 on a game that is just 1 level/game mode. they could even add on to each each season. terminator 4v1. alien 4v1. the thing 4v1. candyman 4v1. krampus 4v1.

each mode is similar but differs in objective and monster play style

make a “quick play” mode that just put you in a random one of these

If they truly want “fortnite” money they have to stop being so greedy with IPs. i cant imagine it is more profitable to make and market these games for them to die in a year vs. make a collection and just pool the money

would never happen, but can you imagine?

There was an evil dead game?

  16. charlesbronZon

They probably had the right to the IP for three years with an option to prolong the contract.

Since the game isn’t particularly popular, renewing the license most likely isn’t profitable so the game goes the way of the dodo.

That’s just the way of licensed games. Even successful games like Forza titles face an end of sale eventually due to licensing reasons. 🤷‍♂️

So we’ve gone all the way from a few weeks of heads-up to blatantly post factum announcements. And to think this game was headed for Switch at some point…

  18. PurplePolishPeople

Damn I actually liked this game a lot.

  19. Beginning-Wing-333

Ah that sucks. I remember really getting into this game when it came out.

  20. fart_Jr

I love Evil Dead and had a good time with this for a little while. But there were serious balance issues that were ever really addressed that made it not very fun after that new release glamour wore off. If you were playing as survivors you’d be getting completely overrun by deadites within 5 minutes. And eligos players just spammed the electric shock aoe attack until you were dead.

  21. FreddyForshadowing

Bruce Campbell is one of the best supporting actors of his generation. He doesn’t have that “leading man” quality, but damn can he nail those supporting roles.

  22. ChronicContemplation

I bought it day one, had a great couple months, got my money’s worth. It’s a multiplayer game, I don’t care if it’s not for sale anymore.

  23. Nutshell_92

As someone who’s only into single player games, the solo missions were fun enough for a free PS Plus game. They were fucking difficult with zero checkpoints though lol

  24. Polyzero

Did they even bring it to steam yet??
I would’ve thought the plan to unite steam/epic players was a no-brainer but I guess even that wasn’t/wouldnt be enough

  25. Myskullis4sided

I will never forgive how easily and quickly they let this game die.

  26. darkj4569

Mad I got this game because it was just a worse dbd. I was really looking forward to feeling like I was playing one of the movies but it just was not it.
