A lonely lamppost against a backdrop of epic floating rocks awash in ethereal blue light is the kind of stuff I'm here for.

It's like each new area tops the one before it. I don't know how they keep constantly one upping themselves, but I love it.

The music is so on point too. I havent heard any of it before but it makes me nostalgic for the days of Final Fantasy on Saturday mornings with nothing else to do.

Some how every area in this game looks like it comes out of a painting

like Flying Waters HAS to be one of the best looking areas in all of gaming

Incredible especially when you consider its price which is half of that of AAA recycled yearly garbage, *cough* AC, *cough* CoD

I’m trying the game, I can see why everyone loves it but I’m having trouble getting on board. I just got to the island so I’m going to give it a chance. I just feel like it might be too much of a bummer to play, that’s the problem with these dramatic storylines they are great for movies but not necessarily fun to play.

I hear a lot of great things about this game… sucks I can’t play it.

    Edit: due to backlog.

  5. tadmau5

Quite possibly the most over hyped game I’ve ever played

I’m currently playing through the game, for a “Double A” game, i’d give it a 7/10 so far, it’s got alot of positives for sure, but equally, some glaring problems, BUT, that’s the beauty of subjectivity, reviews by definition cannot be objective, and therefore, nobody can “technically” be wrong with their personal gaming experiences, and so far, it’s a 7/10.

We shall see if this “score” changes for better or worse.

It’s been a pleasant surprise so far, the setting and characters have a nice charm, the modern gaming aspects of it are going to be grating at best, to put it kindly.

Thank GOD, XBOX Game Pass has this game, so I and others didn’t need to fork out top dollar for this.

Gestral village is incredible as far as a game town goes. Spent a good hour just exploring that place ignoring the arena.

We really don’t need a new post about this game every 5 minutes.

Edit: just saying some of us are trying to enjoy the game naturally but I keep seeing constant spoilers on this sub. You don’t have to ruin every surprise for the rest of us.

Okay, wow, those environments look absolutely STUNNING! The colors, the mood… like a painting come to life!

Definitely makes you wanna jump into that world just to look around! So cool!

The beautiful thing about that lonely lamp post or the trash cans or the park benches or a lot of the other basic stuff like signs, is that those are existing assets in the unreal engine

Part of the reason a studio of 30 people were able to put out a game like this is because they made smart use of pre-existing assets in the engine. This allowed them to focus their development work on key art assets that would differentiate them from other unreal games.

It was very clever to use this world and the painting motif as a way to stick a ton of pre-existing assets everywhere but still have them feel like a unique location and presence

What was the team size on this game?

  12. Aggravating-Dot132

While yes, this screenshot is an absolute garbage to show it.

  13. makersmalls

Does the game take place mostly in that underwater style environment we have all seen in gameplay vids? Or is that just one area ?

  14. GlapLaw

Every time I play I think back to the review that criticized how the game looks because it tried too hard to look AAA and I’m like… ?????

  15. TheMacarooniGuy

Sure seems to be, too bad the system requirements are so damn high for even just “recommended”

  16. Saneless

The only thing I hate about this game’s visuals is the brightness/contrast/gamma settings are locked away in the menu without being able to see the game when you adjust them

Most modern games have a game scene or your actual paused game environment so you can see what it looks like in real time.

The whole game (so far) has been amazing on my end. I’ve been waiting for a Legend of Dragoon remake since I was a kid. This is obviously not that, but damn it’s a spiritual successor to me.

Going straight from First Berserker Khazan, which has amazing boss fights and combat, to this game has been quite a breath of fresh air. Khazan is amazing, and probably the game I would prefer, but everything is grey, muted, and monotonous. 33 feels so vibrant, colorful, and stylish.

Every picture I have seen of this game has been absolutely beautiful

My only issue has to be my set up.

The fog. The fog sometimes is unbearable. That can’t be the intention. Hoping it’s just my end having an issue

  21. Eisegetical

Every screenshot I’ve seen of this game has had some kinda lamp in it.
