Long post and sorry for the rant, but this game has helped me go through my toughest times, so if you have the time, do discuss with my queries. Here goes :
I might be wrong here. When CODM first came out, I was one of the first to sign up for the prelease on the Play Store. Not being financially all that good as a child, Call of Duty was something only people with consoles or PCs played. So it was exciting for me.
When I got the game, I loved it. I first played it on a broken S8+, but it was still fun. Those initial years, I saw all the things people bought in the game, and as a noob back then, the skins and the guns were amazing to me. I couldn't afford it, so it made it all the more tantalizing.
Later on, I started working, spent some money buying the battle pass, and I understood why people spent money on this, sort of. It felt good. But it didn't last too long. I might've spent maybe 3 years playing the game, with me buying the battle pass in the last 6 months. Even at that time, the game required large amounts of storage, but it was completely worth it, considering the other shitty games like PUBG and Free Fire.
But circumstances changed, and now I only reinstalled the game around 2 months back. And storage has doubled, and I am what you guys call a f2p, which I guess means someone who doesn't purchase anything in the game?
The clown skins like Gunzo was something I had always admired from when I started the game, but I could never buy it. But I got it this time, from crafting some mission in the game and I was overjoyed.
But then I realized, can people actually see all this? The skins, and the guns? I don't know about the other players here, but since people are spending actual money, some of it has to be materialistic, right? You'd want people to see how cool your character is.
But then again the storage issue, keeps me from seeing any of the other players' skins, so I wondered if there are other people like me, or are there other perspectives that I'm missing?

I mean when I buy skins I buy them for ME not for anyone else. The point of playing a game is to find enjoyment in it. Sometimes (more often then it should) joy comes with a price tag lol. If your happiness from the things you buy (literally everything not just this game) comes from the validation of other people and can’t be happy with it without that circumstance then you shouldn’t be buying it.
If some people can’t see my skins that’s nbd, I don’t buy stuff so others can enjoy it. It’s for me lol
No, I dont care if the noob I destroy can see my skin or not
I buy skins for myself, not for others lol. As long as I’m seeing the skin, it’s all good for me.
I download everything. I like seeing other people’s skins. I’ve spent a lot of money on this game but it’s not to show off to other people. I’m far too old for that nonsense. I spend money because the stuff I buy in this game bring me joy and make my playing experience better.
I used to download everything because I wanted to see and experience the game in it’s entirely… But since the last year, I have stopped downloading everything because it affected performance soo much (I play this game both from my phone and from gameloop, even on gameloop it has affected performanc)… Anyway, it’s just base skins and base guns for me now (save for some of my epic and legendary characters that I want to see while I use them, feels nice… and some leggy/epic guns with inbuilt sights that I want to make use of)
I used to download the entire game to enjoy it at its full potential of different skins , but after battlefield came out , I no longer download Character or Weapons skins that I don’t own which gives me around 18 GB of free space for battlefield mobile and CODM has 23 GB of space occupied for all maps and owned skins and HD Audio only . There is no point in downloading HD resources if I play in. Low + extreme mode
I literally never do cause my phone storage is full lmaoo
I download everything. One of the reasons I buy premium phones so I dont have to worry about things like storage. Also, I dont care if you see my paid skins. I bought them for me, not you.
I download only 10% of my own skins, so I see 99% of players as spec ops 1 and I don’t bother with others see me as SO1
I actually somehow find skins in both CoDM and Free Fire to be too flashy nowadays, so I’d delete some of the skins.
But I agree, sometimes I am bothered about it, sometimes I’m not. I find it annoying that people don’t see my expensive RM 600 evo gun emote when I flex it.
You know what I can flex though? Leaderboard achievements. I can show off how I’m the best pistol user in Malaysia (used to) so I mostly enjoy games when I can achieve something meaningful rather than buying fancy skins for no reason other than style points.
I buy skins or guns just for me. It does not bother me, if no one sees my holographic watch.
