Official David Jacket has come out and it does not look good, imo. The collar is the most important part and it's just wrong.

That material, sizing, collar… looks horrible for official merch…

When mom says “we got cyberpunk at home”

  3. FooleyLegend

Yeah…lookswise if I wanted one, I’d just get a high-vis jacket and start from there.

I think they made some concessions to give it a more “regular” look and increase comfort for daily wear. Not because they did a bad job per se. But they shouldn’t call it a replica.

This is just like those fallout 76 canvas bags

My heavens, this reminds me of the God awful merch Fallout 76 merch disasters, which included a special edition carry bag that was supposed be made of canvas, but was actually made from cheap thin nylon, as well as the Nuka Dark rum that was advertised as being sold in the iconic rocket shaped bottle, but was actually just a cheap glass bottle in a cheaper plastic shell.

Looks like a kids costume you get at the Halloween store

It looks like somebody’s first ever cosplay attempt.

    Couple of things:

    1. I’m never going to expect something like this to be good. Companies are making products for cheap and just hoping the name carries it. It’s the same reason the Samurai bomber they made is literally just nylon and garbage.

    2. As someone who works in jackets and textiles a ton, I also will never expect a company to use premium materials to make things like this. If they did, pricetag hits 600+ and they’re not looking to sell 5 at that price, they’d rather sell hundreds at cheaper.

    3. No design is ever going to actually replicate the jacket. If you think about it, the jacket is an emergency services jacket, and anything close to that build, material, and just design is going to be difficult for them to consider producing.

You’re better off learning how to sew and making it yourself.

It looks extremely cheap and like those vest construction workers wear

  11. …..they should be ashamed for butchering a dead woman and sons threads like that…..

The worst is that these are professional photos. This was the absolute best that they could make this jacket look

A bit disingenuous in calling it a replica, as it’s definitely toned down to be a more of casual wear rather than a cosplay. I also wish the material was synthetic and shiny like the anime rather than than the cotton they went with. However I still appreciate the casplay approach insert coin went with, even if David’s jacket isn’t the most inconspicuous thing in the first place.

I’ve been considering picking this up but honestly don’t know if I’ll wear it enough to justify the purchase.

They messed up. They didn’t want to commit to making a jacket for gamers, so they made it more casual to target other consumers

Other than the color, it looks nothing like the one in the game.

My biggest pushback is that this looks like it’s made out of the wrong material. It doesn’t really look like a jacket, so much as outerwear…

But… this is an Insert Coin product. They don’t make ‘replicas’, they make everyday clothes inspired by games. The issue here isn’t the product, it’s the way Crunchyroll chose to describe it. I personally wouldn’t buy this but people in this thread criticising it for not matching the anime/game are missing the point.

Edit: and based on my experience with Insert Coin products, the quality is good. I have a Witcher jumper that I wear all the time and I love it.

I’m gonna be real, even if it was made of leather and had actual light around the collar it would still look cringe as fuck in real life

  19. Actual_Echidna2336

It went from a jacket to a zip up fleece

There are few things as funny as buying shitty 2077 merch. I guess the only thing more ironic is to buy the micro transactions in fortnite

  21. TheRealComicCrafter

I allways say it more as a puffer jacket based off the anime and in game model
