The top fan wont spin when I turn on my pc. The solution I discovered is to just smack it real hard. Just wondering why it is like this.

    Here’s a wild guess

It’s broken and needs to be replaced

    Another guess

Probably the bearings just giving up and making it spin with more friction

Take that, yea you are a dirty little computer aren’t you.

the fan bearing is dead of the fan’s speed is set at a very exact histeresis point where it doesn’t have enough power to start up but it can run after a bit of encouragement

  4. Try setting the speed higher in the BIOS fan configs. Non-PWM fans stall if they’re set too slow

Please clean the front, that is looking nasty

It’s dirty and likes a spanking?

  7. live-the-future

That fan’s just lazy, won’t work without a slap upside the front

The hardest job a spinning part has is to start moving. Once it’s spinning, it’s easy to keep spinning.

Well, it’s not like those fans will do much with that glass just in front…

Fixed the fan, now the hdd is no longer recognized.
Hdds have flying heads with very small tolerances, a shock can scratch the disk surface and damage your data or kill your hdd. Do not move or shake the pc while running if you have a hard drive inside.

Brother………That was not a spank. It was an assault.

  12. NereusH

well its better off not spinning since there is a huge glass wall in front; the fans will not move shit.

No, this is normal. You must assert dominance to the PC prior to getting what you want. Its science

This isn’t an old tube tv, it’s a computer. Smacking it is only going to ensure it breaks.

The fan’s lubricant is probably either contaminated or thickened. Fan is nearly dead.

  16. Maybe pc likes it rough ? People are so judgmental this days jeez.

  17. Imperius_Fate

How are these fans even pulling air in..? Why is there a huge glass panel in front?

  18. Hilppari

Those front fans are useless anyways. cant really do much with the glass being there and tiny slits on the side

  19. DIY_SelfHelp

With the amount of dust on the glass/acrylic I bet the fan is getting gunked up and the barring can’t move correctly. This design has me puzzled, I even showed my spouse, where is the air supposed to come from or go?

A whole new meaning to being “turned on”.

  21. EksCelle

Negative pressure kills fans. Since they’re just sucking on glass you can expect your other 2 fans to suffer the same fate. Get a mesh panel!

  22. hiyosinth

who are we to kink shame the innocent fan setup

so what if they like it rough?

personally, i am proud of you little fan, keep it up !

  23. Captcha_Imagination

Is the screen showing BSOD or BDSM?

  24. TigerDoodat

Yeah, the other commenters are right: the bearing in your fan is likely giving up, and definitely needs replacing. There’s a good chance it’s running qute slow, too, but you wouldn’t know due to the fact that you have A GLASS PANEL BLOCKING THEIR AIRFLOW lmao
