The Switch 2 version of Tears of the Kingdom is retailing for $120 Canadian… Absolute insanity.
hardy_83
I mean those two in particular seem to have actual game content vs just a visual upgrade like the Zelda ones, so I was fully expecting Nintendo to charge more for those.

Who cares look at how many idiots on this sub are desperate to get the system anyway.

Nintendo is ass
SwapandPop
Wait a fucking minute here.
Nintendo is releasing new content for games and charging for it?
WTF??
I have literally never spent a penny on any game. Everyone knows all these companies doesn’t exist for profit. They make shit and give it out for free, ensuring they suffer financial losses as God intended.
That’s like basic economics 101.
Not sure why Nintendo is trying change the way the world works. I’ll be boycotting.
If you’ll excuse me, Audi just released their 2025 models with new features, so I’m gonna go grab my free one.
CaterpillarReal7583
“Quietly confirms” just means they are listed to purchase now with their prices.
These sites keep writing article titles like they’re trying to sneak it by us when really it just means they didnt do a big news blast announcing the price.
Embarrassed-Pipe-340
It literally comes with DLC? How much are you willing to pay for DLC, subtract that from what they are charging and that difference is the only thing you should be upset about (if even). I think the 10$ upgrade is fair for such a huge leap, unless you would prefer them to port all the games and make you pay full price all over again like the Wii U -> Switch ports
MiddleSecurity8734
Don’t worry, the Nintendo fanboys will say this is simply fair pricing.
Turdsley
I’m really curious to see how this console pans out for Nintendo.
Island_Monkey86
Not cheap? It’s new content plus a next Gen upgrade. I get the discussion around the Mario Cart Physical Game, but can we draw a line somewhere please?
Impossible-Lawyer309
$20, for anyone who doesn’t want to click the link
_McDuders
Even without the new content, it seems like these games will work just as well without an upgrade pack. So that’s an easy skip from me. $20 for some new DLC content is fine I guess, but I wasn’t really clamoring for new content in Kirby. So it’s just kind of whatever.
deutschdachs
Who even wants that Jamboree DLC? All anyone wants is new boards, minigames and maybe characters but they add a bunch of isolated side modes people might play once and never again
Jimmythedad
$20 is so standard for DLC. I own Kirby and my son and I played that game to 100% completion. Paying $20 for more content is a no-brainer for me.
Scared-Room-9962
God I love pirating Nintendo games
Obsessivegamer32
$20 is the reasonable price for DLC content, this article is a nothing burger intentionally trying to add fuel to fire.
-autoprime-
I’m going to say. Twenty dollars for the upgrade is pretty good. Sure, it’d be way better if they were free, but people don’t realise it but Kirby the forgotten land and super mario party jamboree on switch are essentially dlc. They give new content like a new chapter of gameplay and new minigames and modes.
Chromch
People already justifying 20 bucks is crazy, only really make sense for Kirby assuming it has a decent amount of new content
Rickmerunnin
Nintendo fans in 2017: I can’t believe you’re making me pay full price to play this Wii U port that I already own on switch.
Nintendo in 2025: Okay if you already own the game, switch two upgrades will be free if there is no new content and 10-20 dollars with additional content and you’re not required to upgrade to play on the new console.
Nintendo fans: 😡
minigibby2212
It’s basically dlc. I think it’s fine.
kclongest
People are just piling on for content. Go away
Dont_have_a_panda
20$ for whats not only an upgrade but also juicy DLC seems fine to me
nohumanape
Why is this being made to be a thing? Wasn’t the upgrade to Ghost of Tushima’s Director’s Cut (which included the Iki Island DLC) $30?
There are some reasonable arguments to be made regarding some of the Switch 2 pricing (though I would argue it all makes sense through the lens of the Switch 1 still being considered a relevant platform by Nintendo). But this click bait hysteria is not it.
fanfarius
I kinda want to hold out for the Switch 2 Lite because that was my favorite version of the Switch, and I don’t see why they wouldn’t do another one. Gonna experience some serious FOMO though, not sure if I will actually make it. I am weak.
HighlightHungry2557
I don’t care what anyone says, for me as someone who bought botw on Wii U and not switch, the idea of buying a switch 2 and then needing to pay 90 for the full game is just ridiculous
Capable_Possible_687
$20 is crazy? Maybe for kids, but for gaming adults with jobs is this really a big deal?
OvErMeCh
Nintendo really going to the dark side
pottertontotterton
Stop saying “quietly”. It’s obviously not quietly anything if you’re reporting it.
Bolwinkel
Yeah this is what I was hoping for. $10 for BotW and TotK since they’re almost exclusively performance upgrades, and then $20 for the upgrades that are actually getting new content. If I’m being honest the only thing from the Switch 2 direct that I consider unacceptable is the price of Mario Kart. Everything else is within expectations.

at least they should give us a performance patch for free like some other 1st party games.
even sony and ms gave free patches
many other publishers too. some even with upgrades to native ps5 versions.
especially in the first years during the generation swap.

This is weeks old info people. Move on this is clickbait

How much did you expect them to be?!
owensoundgamedev
Don’t these have legit dlc updates tho? Not just better frame rates/etc
borghe
The thing about these $10-20 s2 upgrades that Nintendo knows is that people are 90%+ spending them on software they own or buying a used/sale copy. So while people can say they equate to $80-90 games.. the reality is that the initial $60-70 is either a sunk cost or in actuality lower (used/sale)
The overall effect is that gaming is actually getting more expensive.. but just the friendly reminder that for decades.. multiple decades.. gaming not only ignored inflation but actually bucked it due to increasingly frequent discounts and the rise of the App Store environment and sub $10/20/40 gaming
I can understand people being annoyed about it.. but surprised or unaccepting even after it being explained is sort of ignorance.
brandondh
How will Metroid 4 work for switch 2? Will there be a switch 2 version you can just buy or will I have to buy the switch 1 version and then pay an additional fee for switch 2 graphics?
Blubasur
The kirby one I at least get since it comes with new content and is essentially a dlc. Still a big chonky
Most_Caregiver3985
Nintendo sucks anyone who buys a Switch 2 is a dunce.
500 dollar PS4, 80 dollar games, pay for online with horrible net code comparable to the Dreamcast, and they still have to dip for upgrades. Lmao
JamUpGuy1989
Why?
Cause you are gonna buy it. I’m gonna buy it. Majority of Reddit will buy it despite claiming they won’t.
