idk about melee weapons but when I use pax on my pistol from stealth crits seem to kill enemies anyway

I play with non-lethal a lot, and I can tell you from experience that the way the game handles it is pretty weird. Several possibilities here;
1. You hit the while they were downed. This kills them no matter what.
2. You used a finisher. All finishers with bladed weapons are automatically lethal. No amount of pax modding can stop decapitation from being lethal.
3. The game “forgot” your mods. This happens from time to time, likely due to a memory issue. Swapping away and back to the weapon in question usually fixes it.

A baseball bat is non-lethal until you whack them in the head a bunch of times while they’re on the ground. Stop shooting at them after they’re knocked out.

‘Nonlethal’ weapons will kill if they hit an unconscious person, and with something fast-hitting like a chainsword it’s easy to KO someone and then accidentally immediately kill them.
