Let me start by saying that I have a lot of kids and a small tech hoarding problem, but today all that worked out in my favor. Like magic, I turned years of old consoles and unplayed games into a Lenovo legion go and I can't wait for it to get to my house. Just wanted to share my joy (and a little pain) with my fellow gamers.

gamestop be like, i’ll give you tree fiddy
seriously tho, that’s a good chunk of change, kudos
Crazy. My question is, will it be worth for that store to take all those old consoles and keep them to resell until who knows when?
I think that’s quite the poor trade, but congrats if it makes you happy, I suppose.
I mean good for you? I think you got ripped off lol. But if you are happy 🤷♂️
Damn that’s a poor trade in my opinion. If you sold everything separately on FB Marketplace or Kijiji etc you could have gotten way more.
When I worked at GameStop you weren’t allowed to trade in more than one of the same console, crazy that doesn’t exist anymore.
Yikes
As much as I dislike Gamestop’s trade policy. It’s making you more money than it just sitting in a closet collecting dust.
With not much work, you can sell all that either separately or as a bundle on Mercari and make much much more than what you did by giving it all to Gamestop. And you’ll know you likely sold to someone who will use and cherish your old systems and games.
But congrats anyway, the Legion Go is an underrated console. I go back and forth between it and my Steam Deck
I was like ‘nice, nice, nice’ and then I noticed Mount Microsoft, which I initially assumed was the back of a point of sale terminal.
Over the years I traded in my PS3, 360, 3DS, and PS Vita as well as accompanying accessories and games in towards new consoles/games. At this point, I regret it very much. I’d love to have access to my old collection again now.
I remember years ago I traded 32 GameCube games for a ps2. I regret that little monster brain of mine that thought that was a great idea.
barf
I’m happy for you. Have fun!
Big L honestly
I remember I traded in my PS2 and all of my games for an Xbox 360 when it came out….worst mistake of my gaming career what the hell was I doing.
Use to work at a retro game store so I can explain the price policy and I actually agree with what you got.
Those 360s are next to nothing cause it looks like no cables and not enough controllers ( controllers are 90% of the value you would get trading in a console).
We were a small store and only had 4 location in the area. Know how many BACKSTOCK 360s we had? Over 1000. Yeah. That’s how often they came in.
Guess how many Wiis we had? Well over 500. That’s Backstock too. This is not including what we had completed and ready to sell.
So guess how much we offered for consoles? 5 dollars. That’s all you get for consoles with no cables/controllers. And yet people still sold it to us. It got so bad we started to refuse both Wiis and 360s.
The PS3 I wish I could see the other side because if it had 4 USB slots…we would have paid money for it regardless if it had cables/controllers but you would definitely get more if you did. Fat PS3s with 4 USB slots in the front is Backwards Compatible. That means it plays PS2 games as well ( all PS3s could play PS3 and PS1 games but only that model could also do PS2 ).
So what netted him the MOST were all those controllers. Everything else was because “well I want those controllers so I’ll pay a little for the rest to JUST GET THISE CONTROLLERS”.
Hopefully those go to good as well as your new laptop
8 years ago, you could flip games from one store to another easily with creating a new account at the end of every month. Around 700 in trade credit, i would make every month with around 250 of trade credit from the previous month.
I would do this all day to clean out a bunch old stuff with no chance of shenanigans. Good job, friend.
Convenience is apparently worth $0 to some people 🤷🏼♂️
Can’t find your liver on that receipt. However. Good job you.
I really want the Legion Go. I few friends have them and they’re really great. There’s a new version coming out soon that I’m gonna wait for and get.
I bet that save you a lot of time going to GameStop. Dealing with eBay and the like is time consuming.
A lot of people don’t like GameStop (to each their own, I’m not here to debate that).
What I will say, is once GS and physical media is gone, people are going to really miss them and they don’t realize it. I ran a GS for a decade and I’m telling you, people are going to buy a whole lot fewer games when they can’t flip older stuff every now and then to pay for it. Especially with new games costing so much (looking at YOU, Nintendo).
It’s a sad time : (
Man what I would do for a clean Destiny PS4 edition…..
Can’t you get the legion go for 650 right now?
That looks like my local GameStop, right down to the binder of Pokemon cards
Wait how much did they give you for those 360s
I would have sold em on eBay or whatnot you could have gotten way more maybe even 2 Legion Gos
Didn’t know they still bought PS3s and 360s.
You made the poor employee pose for the pictures
8% tax good lord I’d move
In 300 years people will view this photo as a crime against humanity
Right…so iv been using my Legion Go for nearly a year now, there are some things you should know (assume your friends haven’t said already).
Overall, pretty good device, definitely got what I needed from it.
However…there are some large things to be aware of…
Firstly, it appears to run off a windows *laptop* OS. This means it has some weird quirks and optimisation issues, namely heat generation and RAM usage. The heat issue is a bit annoying as it means with the fans on the “smart” (nothing smart about it) setting, the device can generate too much heat and not vent properly without the fans on maximum. This leads to poor overall performance.
Secondly, RAM. It’s base RAM is fine, nothing particularly special, gets the job done. But with windows thinking it’s running a laptop, the OS eats up more RAM than it otherwise should. (It also means it’s quite power hungry at times)
Lastly, the windows issue means that while your legion has *technically* better stats than a Steam Deck, a number of games just won’t run as well as they should on the Legion as opposed to a Steam Deck.
Does this make it bad? No, definitely not. I live/work on ships and it’s been a god send. Just keep in mind these issues as you browse the Steam store/library for games. You will definitely get your moneys worth, once you work around it’s flaws.
Gamestop just made a killing off you
So…. I could;ve given you more for that Sonic blue controller, unless you drifted it to f. I think GS overall made of with the better side of the deal, unless those are canadian dolaroos that’s too much for a Legion Go. Anyway have fun with that absolute unit of a “handhelf”. More like lapheld.
