I really hope the market for unoptimized games will crash.

If it was meant to optimise games… And devs are now relying on it for optimisation… Then it’s doing exactly what you want, and your meme makes no sense.

Why is it so hard to position text similarly? Why “me” is at the bottom in the top frame? Also, no, upscaling and FG weren’t supposed to optimize games. Upscaling is supposed to at least partially restore image quality, and FG is supposed to increase motion fluidity at already high framerate, for high refresh rate displays. It never was supposed to be used as a crutch for low FPS, you’d just kill your experience by using it while having less than 60 true FPS.

“Bring balance to the frametime not leave it in input lag”

  4. You want games to be optimised but you couldn’t even optimise a meme.

The market is accepting of technically lacking games.

A tool comes out that can lower the cost development while keeping the same performance.

Suits are going to take advantage of that.

And your average AAA buyer is to blame.

I don’t mind waiting eons for a new game that is well optimized. It’s the shareholders who are pushing games to the market to make as much money as soon as possible.

To be honest dlss is a much better optimization than any other one they can make. Like if you need DLSS 4 upscaling to get better fps. But it allows you to have signficantly better graphics and ray/pathtracing. Thats a good optimization.

Because DLSS 4 looks equivalent or better than native 1440p or 4k but increases performance. Vs the other option which is signficantly worse graphics but native 1440p or 4k. Which will look worse antialiasing wise and graphics wise since you need to tune them down for performance.

Oh, yeah, the world of unicorns and flying ponies where everything ran native at Ultra with 120+ fps.

If anything, there was never a time when you could power 4K screens. Now, you can do it even with a midrange GPU with negligible compromises.

Ultra settings are dumb, just as dumb as native resolution unless you have heaps of performance to spare, and most of the time, you don’t

That is not to say that they are no games that run a lot poorer than they should. Most of such games are CPU bound, though, not GPU. As such, upscaling won’t help you much if at all, only Frame Gen.

it won’t till there are people who purchase shit on impulse and there are a few gaming companies cashing in on this mentality. EA for one.

    Oh yes optimization…

Before in 90s and 00s – there was big possibility that in order to even launch new game u had to build completely new PC, frame rates rarely exided 30, you couldn’t even try new tech without hardware for it, there was no software fallback.

And now when you still can play 90% of game’s on 8yo gtx1060, and anything on 6yo rtx2000.

Broken games where always been there, today PC gaming is best it’s ever been, no more exclusive graphics features for consoles, no more exclusive games for consoles, you can stretch life out of ur old shitbox thanks to upscaling, u can run 4k and above resolutions thanks to upscaling, u can make game’s appear smooth thanks to upscaling.

But nah all my homies like 30 stuttery fps of 2000s.

*gpu companies produce a high-end card with ten times the performance of the current gen*

game companies: lets make games that are too demanding for even the yet to be released new cards!!

  12. Just boycott all AAA on release.

I just buy indies first: most are optimized on release and offer innovation for a fractions of the price. Then wait for AAA to get fixed and get major discount on steam sale to get them for indie price

  13. mavven2882

Upscaling I can deal with okay. But am I the only one who thinks frame gen is no where ready for prime time for most games? 99% of the time I’ve tried frame gen, there’s weird artifacts, visual anomalies, input lag, and the game just looks off ..and feels off to play.

  14. KirillNek0

Another crying post about “poor optimization and upscalers”.

Bruh… Go back to point me how old GPUs fair in 6 year cycle.

  15. Skeeter1020

We want affordable well optimised gaming!

“You will get 150gb installs of uncompressed textures and require frame gen to get 30fps, and you will like it!”

    Ok… ☹️

  16. OMG_NoReally

I am so conflicted about DLSS and Frame Gen.

On one hand, it *should* give lower-end hardware a bigger lifeline and cause people to use their hardware for more years.

Yet on the other hand, developers seem to misunderstand what these are supposed to be used for. They rely on it fix their broken games, not make their new engines run on lower-end hardware.

I don’t know if NVIDIA and AMD are to be blamed for inventing this tech and promoting it as the next revolution in graphics card software. They did their job and very well. DLSS 4 is amazing, and 2xFG is pretty damn cool, too. But it’s the devs who don’t want to optimize their games because they are always rushing to release their games, or simply don’t know how to, even if they made the engines themselves.

I would also like to take this space and say, Fuck Unreal Engine 5, piece of shit.

  17. BottomGear__

It’s great tech that can get a game from getting 100fps at 1440p to getting a buttery smooth 140 at 4k. It’s on the devs to make sure they don’t use it as a crutch to make their games playable at all, and a lot of them unfortunately do exactly that.

  18. DisdudeWoW

Mhwilds selling gamgbusters is unhinged to me. Its a decent game that perfoms like crap

  19. Renegade_451

Games have been unoptimized long before DLSS and frame gen.

  20. NaughtyPwny

People here have no idea what optimization is and just want high frame rate. Just say you want high frame rate.

  21. Strawbrawry

A great time for indie devs creating for the most popular cards to shine
