I sent my motherboard to asus for RMA and they denied it because of this physical damage. Would this cause my motherboard to fail in any way? Also i have video and photos before sending it off that it didnt look like this.

That’s completly normal. It’s how Asus RMA works. Gamers Nexus covered this topic some time ago.
NewCornnut
Could it? Yes
Did it? Nobody knows
Asus absolutely can and will deny the RMA for this damage. (the board looks like it’s been dropped.)
That’s unfortunate 😔
DctrGizmo
They damaged it and won’t tell you. You’ll likely have to get another motherboard.
djternan
This is exactly why I didn’t buy Asus anything when I built my new PC.
They probably dropped it on that corner, bent the connectors, and chipped the board.
SplitBoots99
I always take pictures of the device at all angles before sending it in. Last time I did an RMA, I took a video of myself putting it in the box. Not taking any chances with these shitty companies anymore.
Otherwise-Dig3537
This is exactly the Asus experience I had. This is why I never recommend anyone buy Asus products, EVER. Threaten them legally as far as you can going up to the top. You’re in a lose/lose situation now where you might as well throw caution to the wind and see if a weak manager will buckle under your threats to replace your board free of charge. Tell them you’re documenting your interactions and speaking with Gamers Nexus on legal action to take. Bluff hard, take no prisoners.
SandsofFlowingTime
Being known for regularly denying an RMA for the most minor stuff that often times wasn’t there when you sent it to them is why I refuse to ever buy something from ASUS
Crymore68
If you have photographs of the board before you shipped it you will need to make a shipping insurance claim
Any other manufacturer will have denied the RMA as that’s substantial PCB damage
Hep_C_for_me
They wouldn’t RMA my 3090 either. I stayed on the phone with tech support for hours until I finally gave up. I will never buy anything Asus again. I hate them. I’ll not have a PC before I buy a single thing from them.
VerledenVale
If you have photos / videos of it before shipping for RMA, show us. Otherwise it’s hard to believe.
SirOakin
Asus damages everything and then refuses the warranty.
Just buy a Best buy and get the Best buy warranty. They literally will hand you a new mobo
Slapdaddy
An employee dropped the board hard on that corner. I mean it looks like someone took a grinder to the poor thing. The pin is very slightly bent and normally it could be bent back into position and work just fine, if it was simply bent, but the copper under the pin may be damaged or snapped, and the board may be broken.
Don’t touch the pin. Take lots of pictures. Asus is known for this, and it’s why I won’t buy anything Asus, forever. Get ready for a fight if you want Asus to repair or replace it. If the board is still within the return window of the retailer, contact them and see if you can return it. Also, you can try to get Gamers Nexus to go to bat for you, which may or may not help.
Remember. Don’t. Buy. Asus.
Edit: Can you post the pictures and/or videos you took before shipping it off?

This motherboard has been dropped. While that spot it self probably doesn’t contain any important traces but that drop might have caused some internal damage or cracks in solder joints else where on the board. I’ve seen similar damage on dropped GPU’s that caused it to not work anymore despite the impact spot not containing anything important. Would be totally valid RMA denial if you send it in like this but you said you didn’t, so probably shipping damage or incompetent RMA employee.
propdynamic
DON’T BUY ASUS.
PutADecentNameHere
Asus definitely broke it and put the blame on you.
air__vent
Asus is just a dipshit company
HankThrill69420
go back to point of purchase, they will deny you, get that in writing; gather your evidence and it’s off to dispute the charge if you paid with a credit card
Head_Exchange_5329
Looks like the only way to deal with Asus is to film the product in its entirety as well as the process of packing it and sealing up the box before shipping, making sure you have irrefutable proof that the product was not damaged prior to shipping. Following this if you encounter “evidence” from Asus RMA, press charges for attempted fraud as you have the evidence to prove it. Time to burn down Asus USA and lobby for better consumer rights protection.
Pro4791
Classic “we break it you pay”.
acemccrank
Double-check the serial number to even make sure it’s still the same board. Either way, if you are in the U.S., consider filing a report with the FTC.
MoistCasual
Fought Asus 41 days over an Oled image retention issue. Had pictures and even videos of it happening but they said the monitor was fine. I was one step away from going to consumer court in Norway and they decided to give me my money back. Never ever buying that brand again.
TheReturnOfAnAbort
Customer service with ASUS is basically non existent, thats why I left them, no more ASUS for me, I received a defective Rampage IV Extreme motherboard where the headers for the PCIe slot were not in the plastic slot but inside the slot instead. They claimed I caused that. Literally spent nearly 3 months fighting with them, had to send it to superior court in CA for them to finally get them to RMA it.
csji
asus is no longer premium brand imo.
TRi_Crinale
Welcome to modern ASUS, “we’ll find any reason we can to deny your RMA claim, even if it was our fault”
hceuterpe
I bet you didn’t ship the board with the retail box. Motherboards are among the most awkward items to ship, especially without the original box.
If you ship it back in the retail box then package it properly with a shipping box. It’s extremely hard to incur this sort of damage in just one corner and no where else.
StaticRiddle
ASUS damaged my board and despite capturing photos of many angles and protecting it to their standards, they refused to acknowledge tech error and sent me a big eat shit letter. I am sorry you are having to deal with this.
canexican1
I have used asus mobos since 2013, 6 different rigs. Asus customer support wouldn’t even work with me on diagnosing an F6 Qcode unless I sent the board in. GN investigation vid convinced me I need to move away from asus. Went with msi mobos for now.
APGaming_reddit
they dropped that shit if you didnt sent it with that corner bent

Asus being scammy as always
Kongo808
Hey OP, gamers Nexus reported on similar situations awhile ago, unfortunately this is common for ASUS, try reaching out to this email that he provided.
Not a fan of GN, but he is for the people and there is no denying that, even if he goes about it in a way that I may not agree with I still appreciate what he does for consumers.
goose_2019
Try and send it back to the place you got it from. Quite often they will.
ekinria1928
File a claim showing the before and after photos. Call them too. You should be able to escalate this as a claim.
ThisAccountIsStolen
How *exactly* was it packaged? Because I cannot count the number of times I received inadequately packaged items shipped to me for repair when I was still running my shop that arrived damaged. This could have easily happened in transit if the board was not packaged securely, and would absolutely be grounds for a warranty denial.
okaneiba
Whatttt…. asus is being shiddy?? Noooooooooo

Transit damage?
FirefighterHaunting8
Show us your photos of it beforehand
CptKillJack
Does the board they are showing you match your serial number. Also if you have pictures validating condition on sending I would message and send pictures to try and fight for the repair or replacement. It was in good condition when it left your hands.

Welcome to the wonderful world of ASUS support. Sorry you’ve had this kind of experience.

Asus?
They do this stuff with the little arrow stickers.
Argue that damage happened in shipping and is not your responsibility.
Contact Gamers Nexus so they can bitch about it to the manufacturer, or publicly.
sahovaman
1st let me say that asus FUCKING SUCKS for any kind of RMA service. They do ANYTHING they can to blame YOU for the issue. I think that I’ve only had 1 of several RMAs for Asus go through (I work at a pc repair shop). They’ve refused to RMA at least 2 laptops with broken hinge mounts while LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE will, I swear they just scrape them up purposely, claim damage, and deny… I’ve had one DENIED BECAUSE THEIR FUCKING STICKER SHIFTED.. I’d absolutely escalate it, send timestamped photos to them showing it wasn’t sent in that condition, but don’t be surprised if they deny again…
