This might explain why after Origins there seemed to be an attempt to ME the franchise, from the dialogue wheel to the more action focus as opposed to strategy, each game got less Dragon Age and more Mass Effect. Veilguard even copied Mass Effect 2's suicide mission, do companion quests or your companions die formula.

Isn’t this somewhat understandable? Mass Effect clearly has more mass market appeal than something like Dragon Age.
who gives a shit,
Yeah andromeda seemed like it was made with love
Lmao ME was the better game, in all respects, hands down.
“They wouldn’t even spare us the resources to hire someone to tell us that the ‘Barve’ sequence was a tonal and cultural misfire.”
I mean to give EA some credit, dragon age has gotten worse since origin…
I still wish we got a DA Legendary Edition. That would have been so epic.
I quite like Dragon Age, but the original ME trilogy is in masterpiece territory for me. Don’t get me wrong, EA makes some boneheaded decisions, but this seems fairly unsurprising.
>there seemed to be an attempt to ME the franchise
To be fair, even the original Mass Effect got a similar treatment. It went from an RPG with shooter elements to a shooter with RPG elements. To a certain extent, that sort of change was just the direction that Bioware were moving in general.
Too bad the writing of DA 2 , inquisition and Veilguard didn’t reach the level of ME2
This doesn’t surprise me, mass effect came first and is definitely the more mainstream game.
Since it’s EA, it’s no wonder they tried to homogenise their two action RPG game series.
The sad thing is that dragon age has been forced to reinvent itself every single game in the series to be more consumable to bigger audiences. Mass effect got to keep its soul from being too gutted until Andromeda.
i feel like maybe DATV wasn’t a hit job from the inside unless EA told them to make the game bad and not to the liking of the general playerbase of the franchise, though this is EA so that’s entirely possible.
It’s hard to care about the upcoming ME4 after seeing how garbage the writers that remain at Bioware are. But I was very pleasantly surprised that a bunch of the golden age team formed their own studio and is making a new sci-fi RPG. So I’ll tentatively put my eggs into that basket for now.
The DATV cope is unreal. It failed because it was a shit game with shit writing
Who cares, the studio is BioWare in name only at this point. those entitled Dragon Age activist writers can bitch and whine all the way to their DoorDash bicycle, you know – now that they are out of a job! Professional rest in piss bozo moment.
