Built a budget gaming machine last summer with a Ryzen 5500 and Radeon RX6600. Works fine, plays FF7 Rebirth at medium-ish settings and that's all I needed.
Last week my buddy pulled a 5700X3D out of a drawer and blessed me with it. I knew the stock AMD cooler wasn't going to cut it, so I got a Phantom Spirit 120SE, plied on an ice-cream scoop of thermal paste, and barely fit it inside my Cooler Master Q300Lv2. I had to remove the top exhaust fan, but at CPU 55C / GPU 65C under load I don't think I'll miss it.
Oh, and no broken glass here, because that'd just be ridiculous.

Then what are you doing here?
even i could do it as a stupid 14 y/o (i am still unable to comprehend how i did it), im starting to think they do it purposefully just to get some karma out of it

If only you could also dust the fucking shelf under your PC, much like a functioning adult.
Woulda been amazing if the last photo was of the pc and you could see a shattered panel in the background
This is the way 😂
Does this model even use glass? I have the earlier revision and it’s just clear plastic lol
You’re lacking the pre-requisite tile floors that people keep putting their PCs on
Dude that shelf is filthy.
Stock cooler is OK for a 5700X3D. You’d be surprised. Now a 5950X is gonna need that Thermalright. And the prices are usually pretty reasonable, compared to a Noctua. I ran a stock cooler on a 5800X3D for a few months before I got my Peerless Assassin. Temps were a bit better with the new cooler, but there was zero difference in gaming performance.
Glass case… Functional adult… hmm… Why not, anyone can have their our taste and preferences, I guess.
I have a computer case sitting on the floor with 3 glass panels that have been kicked, run into by chairs, had random clothing thrown at them with zippers hitting the glass. Keep the shit off tile and it’s fine.
Why are we posting pristine glass in my shattered glass sub 😡 /s
But now it won’t “actually look better with the glass broken”
Ooh, shots fired with those words
A functioning adult would have cleaned the shelf after pulling their PC off of it.
BUT did you leave the Peel Off Before Use sticker on the cooler?
Hey now, I’m a tech and while I’ve put together many computers I’ve still had one fucking explode just taking the side panel off.
And no that’s not hyperbole. Just unscrewing and taking off the panel like a normal ass adult and that thing literally exploded and shot glass 12 feet away from where it was sitting.
There was no reason for it to happen. No other product in my life with tempered glass could do that with so little action. Shit even the thermal difference in a computer is nothing compared to some places I’ve had tempered glass.
I can only assume that computer case glass isn’t treated nearly with the care, quality standards, and quality *control* that other products with mid-large sized sheets get. I maybe I can’t entirely blame them, computer cases are built down to a stupid price where great glass seems like a bit of a luxury. But if they’re going down that route I’d personally rather have acrylic then even low odds of blowing up another computer.
I couldn’t get rebirth to run stable on my amd rig, I had to play it on my older Nvidia laptop.
Sweep and dust, brother.
What we didn’t see was the glass panel spontaneously shattering minutes after this was posted.
lol I’m a functioning adult too, but man, some things you just don’t put out in the universe.
That shits gonna break within a month.

What a dweeb
I am waiting outside with a glass breaker.
Where’s the anti sag?
Your cpu looks weird
GJ man, just like idk clean the area around your PC, and your intake filters, for more airflow
Good job, buddy. Let us know when you make any easily avoidable mistakes and the glass breaks.
Hey! I have the same cooler. That’s cool.
You have wood floors, that’s cheating.
