As long as it doesn’t affect its price in my country, I couldn’t care less what the price in the USA is. That said, the USA is just isolating itself from fair trade due to the actions of their orange clown. Which sucks for their general public.

Don’t worry it won’t be 145%, when the switch 2 is actually ready to ship the tariff will have changed another 80 times.

Gotta love how the US government is stripping away fundamental human rights from their citizens and destroying the entire country, but the biggest outrage I’ve seen so far is from gamers who don’t want to pay $700 for a Switch 2.

This is just nonsense to wind people up. Nintendo moved most of its manufacturing to Vietnam in 2019 to avoid tariffs in the past. They have already confirmed the tariffs on China won’t have an impact on prices.

This launch is going be a shitshow.

“Oh, sorry madam, you’ll have to pay $100 more than the dude who was just in front of you. Because his was manufactured in Vietnam, and yours in China. Also it’s something to do with when they were shipped. Let me just refer to my ever-changing price calendar to confirm, while you decide whether you want the $100 10fps camera with your purchase.”

    Nintendo switch 2….thousand dollah

well, that’s what America voted for. the Switch 2 was specifically listed as something that will see a signifcant price hike if Trump was elected. Though, the Switch 2 wasn’t announced yet, and a video game shouldn’t really impact the presidential election…… but, we shouldn’t act surprised.

True … but have you tried waiting 45 minutes? The number will change.

  9. Koolmidx

Imagine paying $1100+ USD for a Nintendo console.

“OH NO, PLEASE BE AFRAID OF TARRIFS”.

    Shut up, journo.

  11. Annual_History_796

Nah Nintendo will copy Sony and just up the price in Europe to keep the US price the same.

Pointless to even speculate at this point. We’re gonna snip-snap 10 more times before this thing launches.

Id make a joke about gamers and rising up but i dont wanna end up in el salvador

145% and climbing, I don’t think they are done going back and forth yet.

I’m not subscribing to read this. Most of the switch 2s are made in Vietnam, not China.

With news Vietnam is likely to also be hit with tariffs, they’re also allegedly producing units within America as well

Where does China come into the picture here? What are the Chinese tariff concerns if this doesn’t touch or come from China?

  16. BrokenWindows10

No it won’t. Dumbass Donnie and his gooners are just threatening tarrifs to rob the stock market. Once the market crashes and they buy up all that cheap cheap stock, the tarriffs will disappear and they’ll be filthy rich.

It’s blatant corruption and market manipulation.

Tariffs ain’t real if you don’t buy the products.

Hi from Nikkei Asia! This is Emma from the audience engagement team. Here’s an excerpt for those interested:

*Nintendo’s Switch 2 and other gaming consoles made in China are likely to be hit by the trade war between the world’s two biggest economies, despite the U.S. announcing over the weekend that smartphones, notebook computers and certain other tech products will be exempt from Donald Trump’s “reciprocal” tariffs.*

*According to an internal assessment memo by a major Apple and Nintendo supplier seen by Nikkei Asia, game consoles are still subject to a 145% U.S. tariff on goods made in China, which means products like Nintendo’s highly anticipated new console are in line for a massive hit.*

*The majority of Switch consoles are made in China, Nikkei Asia has learned, with a relatively small proportion made in Vietnam. Nintendo already delayed pre-orders for the Switch 2 in the U.S. as it gauged the impact of the “reciprocal” tariffs, Nikkei first reported. Many of Sony’s PlayStation 5 consoles are made in China, as well.*

  19. Gun and drug smugglers are going to a more lucrative business soon. Everything from China.

I think Nintendo is intending to send China made switches to every other market. US is supposedly getting the ones made in other countries.
