If you reformat your Windows OS properly, it should be a clean slate with nothing on there. McAfee is only an issue if you buy retail laptops or some kind, because it comes with preinstalled software that you don’t need.
I built my own PC, and the only software I have on Windows 11 is GPU driver, Microsoft Visual C++, WinRAR, CPU-Z for monitoring my hardware, FireFox, Discord, Steam, and that’s it. Everything else is game installed from Steam.
You don’t need to install a separate anti-virus in 2025 because the default Windows Security that comes with Windows 10/11 is pretty solid already. Then as long as you have common sense and don’t download or click on sketchy website, realistically you won’t ever have any issue with virus.
I’ve been using Windows ever since Windows 95, and I think the last time I gotten virus was Windows XP or Vista. I can’t remember specifically, but it was somewhere around that timeline. It’s been a good at least 15 years or more since I last gotten a virus, and that was only because I remember downloading songs back in high school at the time when early generation iPod just came out.

i think we can all agree is the worst thing about this antivirus and even norton is that people use it with not knowing how bad it is.
The prebuilt gaming pcs even every day computers loose so much performance from bloatware especially those 2 programs.
