I attempted 6400 MHz but it consistently results in a BSOD 5 minutes after booting windows. Idle temps hover around 40-41 °C and about 47-48 °C under load with a fan over the modules. I have left all voltages on auto in the BIOS. I read that 48 GB modules are difficult to OC and would be interested in suggestions of 64 GB kits that can be pushed further, or is it not worth the hassle on an X3D chip?

Not worth the hassle, it is mostly just for self satisfaction. Most 64gb kits will also not overclock very well as they are almost all dual rank. 48gb kits are the largest commonly single rank kits out there right now. I think there’s some 64gb single rank kits that came out fairly recently but they are rare and probably going to be extremely expensive.
