I spent a lot of time stabilizing RAM OC (timings: https://i.imgur.com/F3R86mm.png), stress testing and using Furmark to make sure it's stable.

However, in real world gaming scenarios, with quiet fan profiles, the system eventually heat soaks and the RAM sticks go unstable after 52c, which I know is expected with maxed tREFI. I get random system reboots at that point.

I've verified this is the issue by ensuring the system is stable in the same scenarios as long as the sticks stay below 51c (by removing case side panels, raising fan rpm).

I'd like to have some margin, any suggestions for good tRFC/tREFI values if I want the sticks to be stable at 60c?

    Generally 65k works up to that temp. I’d honestly use 50k in your case

    I’ve got some server DDR4 which is very dense and has no heatsinks so the temperature climbs up a lot. 32k trefi was stable up to 65/70 if I remember correctly. I’d stick to that to be honest, the performance impact isn’t that big compared to 65k. You can also just do some tests and find your sweetspot.

    Do you have a dedicated fan blowing directly on the RAM? That tends to help significantly, even something like an 80mm fan at 1500RPM.

    As for tREFI, I would just leave it at 32K. When you run tight tRFC the impact of tREFI is greatly reduced.

    Furmark is not for stress testing ram but GPU, use TM5 extreme@anta777 or absolut cfg, Prime95 or Karhu – this one is paid but tend to detect errors after longer run. IF you want to push 65535 tREFI you should consider pointing/putting fan on your ram or run 50000 tREFI.

    I am also running 8000 2:1 cl34 at 1.5v vdd and my sticks NEVER went above 44C because I have fan on them.

  6. I would avoid going above 50 to 55c for tREFI 65535, although this is entirely dependent on the sticks and can have a lot of variability. Lower frequency can also be more temperature tolerant to high tREFI, but this is just based on my own observations.
