Team Spirit has announced the launch of an ambitious project—an academy for Counter-Strike aimed at nurturing the next generation of esports athletes. Dmitry Soul3 and Nikita Cheshir, key figures in the organization, shared the details. The idea for the academy had been in development for a long time, but its implementation required meticulous preparation. The main focus is on continuity: players moving from junior rosters (u12, u14, u16) to the main academy roster should feel confident thanks to a unified playstyle, training methods, and schedule. To achieve this, a robust infrastructure has been established, including a coaching staff led by Dimas Softik, a team of analysts, and unique software for collecting statistics. The selection process for the academy is rigorous. Players are tested in unconventional conditions to identify those who can handle pressure and are ready to compete for a spot on the roster. “We need the best of the best,” Team Spirit emphasizes. The project officially kicked off in December 2024, with active preparations starting in January 2025. In the near future, the organization plans to recruit players for the senior u16 rosters and lay the foundation for future transitions to the main roster.“We’re just at the beginning of this journey, but we’re confident in our success,” the team stated.More focus, less complaining—and see you on the servers!

Very interesting move that aligns esports with traditional sports a bit more. A proper pathway through an organisation that helps develop players consistently in the fundamentals of CS to hopefully produce future generations of great players.

It’s clear that for CS to take the next step professionally is the introduction of these sorts of structured opportunities, and i wouldn’t be surprised to see more orgs follow suit. The question long term will be investment as always but if this sort of stuff is pulled off it bodes we’ll for the success of CS long into the future.

What tournaments are 5 academies even going to play? You’re not supposed to own 2 teams in the same tournament, let alone 5. If they’ll split CCT qualifiers between them, no team would have enough VRS points to get invited anywhere.
