he almost never tried to spray as far as I recall, and always preferred bursting and tapping, especially at the head. So in a nutshell yes.
but at the same time, he was notoriously seen and known as an all aim no brain player which does not get you anywhere whatsoever.
agk153
While it might have held him back, I don’t think his aim was ever the problem. He was talented. But it takes a lot more than aim to be a successful t1 pro.
TomerMeme
A bit of both,
He was clearly and very obviously refusing to go for body shots at times, but he was also so good at tapping and hitting headshots that you couldn’t argue with the results, the guy was rating well.
Responsible_Lead7140
He’s basically Niko without the brain and the sprays, so yes
xoxoxo32
latter.
Resident_Standard437
Him and Shox on G2 had like a 2 month period where as a duo they were untouchable. Like every 2vX was just a clutch waiting to happen. That was on old G2.
jiffytube69
His playstyle got him kicked from the top french team as guys like shox iirc hated it. That playstyle got him immense popularity though and is the reason he is so remembered even though he didn’t win a lot of big trophies.
redditadminsarepdfs
He was a one trick pony so to speak
He was very abysmal with AWP and his rare sprays were kinda all over the place
But his crispy one taps were something else
Playful-Advantage619
Scream highlight real is insanely underwhelming compared to the hype. Like half of his clips are 1 taps in literal match making. Not even FPL 😂
MakimaGOAT
i’d say he tried a bit to hard to focus on HS
No_Tear9428
I get the impression that the problem was more that he relied solely on his aim and didn’t play that smart. But idk I’m not an expert
Gravexmind
Imagine..In a PUG, everyone is dead except 1. So you’re all spectating the clutch. He fails the clutch because he’s trying to fancy 1-tap in a situation where a spray down was more appropriate.
You would say he was trolling.
Long-Island-Iced-Tea
Guy had a very funky ability to do absurd flicks in quick succession, most of them being one-taps.
Which is impressive and quite useful to put it diplomatically, but won’t win you games on its own.
It always surprised me he quit CS relatively early but I guess he never regained his form after his 2015-2017 (iirc) breakout

He wasn’t particularly great as a pro (though certainly not bad at all). Obviously he had good aim, though I don’t think it was ever better than other top pros and compared to modern godlike riflers like Donk Scream’s peak was dramatically worse. Ultimately he just played a really unique and specific way that makes him look really really insane if you look at specifically headshot% and peak highlights, but if you watch his old games most of them he was just… Fine. But with a cool kill or two.
His peak was really short I feel but he did actually stomp for a little while with Shoxie, but yea then back to the normal “I occasionally hit stupid shit but for every insane kill there’s a whiff that would have been a kill if I sprayed” playstyle.
TimathanDuncan
Scream is the perfect litmus test, people are absolute idiots and heavily underrate a rifler who was top 10 and was getting 0.75-0.8 kpr at his best and was a great rifler
People want to seem smart and act like it was a weakness when it was a strength that made him one of the best riflers
He had a shooting style that worked and it wasnt just taps btw he bursted at the head too, much like zywoo and donk do with the ak
dying_ducks
I mean, we still talk about his one-taps.
7enderLove
it’s a shame he picked a game where the first shot isn’t 100% accurate and therefore his style is kinda nerfed already.
Imagine screaM in his prime during the krieg era tho, that be hella cinema.
Jet_Xcountry
I got his kenguin sticker on my battle scarred ak elite. I love that craft , along with team kinguin and my one shot head shot sticker lol
PaymentAdmirable342
Funny how ScreaM was overrated and now became one of the most underrated riflers in CS:GO’s history.
He was #7 in 2013 and #9 in 2016 (and in 2016 pretty much everyone above him was a primary or secondary AWPer, he was the only pure rifler in the top 9.)
National-Hedgehog-90
Scream’s aim was never a problem, regardless of weapon or whether he was going for headshots.
Scream wasn’t known for particularly good gamesense or positioning, and teams eventually figured out that he could be countered with good util and double swings, just like you might fight an awper today
Threshio
He misses he moves, pap pap
Rage_101
Yes and yes. He was on another level and was one of the best players at one point, but also only tapping and bursting and it wasn’t beneficial for the quality of his longer sprays. Absolute fucking joy to watch.
His mental game was his weakness according to himself, Shox and NBK. He called himself a heavily momentum based player. Shox confirmed this and said ScreaM had to be a star player or it wouldn’t work (he’d lose confidence). NBK just straight up hated ScreaM for seemingly unknown reasons.
Interestingly enough, b1t had a higher HS% than ScreaM for quite a while in CSGO, which I think goes to show how much better players have gotten as a whole.

ScreaM was fantastic at dueling. Of course, world class (for that period in time) aim, reaction and snappiness, but also very good positioning. The HS style suited his gameplay as he wasn’t engaging in drawn out spray duels, but repeeked and was quick on hitting a shot or a couple before retreating behind a cover.
Many of his highlights are him dancing around an obstacle and isolating 1v1s in a 1vX. So I disagree with the “just aim no brain” assessment. He had certain gamesense and he was very capable to take space, hold off opponents and not get overwhelmed.
> Did ScreaM focus too hard on HS%
We can’t know that. Obviously it’s not the textbook “optimal” style of play and it requiring him being near the peak of his capabilities to pull it off. But that doesn’t mean he could’ve simply done more bodyshots and achieved more. It would’ve taken other gameplay adjustements as well and maybe his talents wouldn’t work that well. It’s possible that his style of play was the most suited for him. And it surely helped his motivation as he enjoyed the style and enjoyed honing it.
