Don’t give nvidia anymore ideas about minimal VRAM
Pacu99
No way Crysis runs on that, no matter the screenshot
Eagle_eye_Online
I still have an XFX 9500GT with 1 GB DDR2
It’s a really weird series to be fair.
LostDream_0311
Ahhh SLI.
I remember the good old days…
Armadillo9263
Oddly specific VRam number. Anyone know why? Doesn’t sound like the usual binary multiple
69RetroDoomer69
I loved my 9600 GT so much
Ergonim
ok honest question: Why is this number so cursed? i get the power-of-two numbers, but why is 384 MB apparently a normal number in this case? (“was”, I guess)

Xfx used to make nvidia cards? Til

I remember that the 9500GT from Palit was the top of my financial possibilities at that time. Anyway, I was very happy because I was able to play GTA IV at around 30 fps!

When they did try their best with visual effects and details without having to reconstruct a reality and follow every freakin light beam

The GPU manufacturers should add memory sockets to add extra memory in addition to one soldered to mainboard, even though it may be slower.
Then it can be used as a swap place for less frequently used artifacts/textures/data and it can also be used to preload data for next levels of the game.
The amount of memory that could be added would be chosen by user, depending on his use cases.
When a GPU costs more than 1000 USD, it could host a few extra sockets and components to enable memory extensions.

People look fondly at those times, but I remember when AIBs used to pull shitty tactics such as equipping cards with slower memory than the reference cards.
I remember I got a 9600GT from Palit or something, don’t remember. Anyway, I was supper happy with it, until I downloaded some app to check out the specs and found out I had DDR2 memory, not DDR3.

Awwww…Hellgate London. One of my first super hyped pre-release and let down entirely post release gaming experiences…

Whats the AAA games during this card era?
JgdPz_plojack
300mb, Crysis picture? Hell no. Rip off Windows Vista era.
PS3/Xbox 360 memory: 500 mb total RAM.
I prefer Windows 7 Nvidia Fermi, when their average midrange PC has 1 gb VRAM graphic card
I have a 128mb GeForce from the year 2001 on my desk behind me
At the time, it was a risk departing from ATI or VoodooFX . But I guess I made the right choice back then. They used to have naked chick’s on thr box and everything
SAVAGEHANK17
My first ever GPU, it was glorious!
mahonii
384 was pretty beyond for me, had to deal with 256 mb. Needed a dedicated gpu to run doom 3. Was so happy when I got it and could actually play the game.
cszolee79
my first vga card had 256kb ram

I used to have two XFX 9600 GT Alpha Dog Editions in SLI back in the day. Had some good times with Crysis on that setup. Crazy how far graphics tech has come since then, feels like yesterday.
