It is kind of wild that game that costs 19.99 on Steam done by solo dev is much more fun then anything produced by hundreds of people.

Nintendo doesnt have massive sales on their own games often, but they do occasionally have them. I’m happy to wait.
Gamepass is the worst…you will pay every month if you want to use the device you pay.
Buy a game once and you can use it indefinitely. But for 90, no.

Yeah, bad spending habits and no time. Or are you implying backlogs exist because people are expecting prices to rise higher than what they are willing to pay?
If everyone is so up in arms about it, don’t buy them at that price point. BUT….. You know lots of folks will. Folks are quick to bash on a cash shop in some game they paid $60 for. They don’t bat an eye at paying $2 more per gallon of gas, game prices haven’t increased in ages.
I’m not excited about the increase, but considering the cost of every other thing has gone up, you should have seen it coming.
Gentle reminder that emulators exist and there are many many classic games that still hold up

Yeeeep. Been enforcing a rule on myself this year. I have to beat 5 games that I haven’t before and that I bought before I can buy any new game (either newly launched or new to me).
Nintendo has absolutely nothing that I *need* and as such I will not be getting their new console and I already don’t get their games as $60 is too much for their first party titles with little content. If I wanna play a game from them I usually just rent it out.

Yeah I haven’t even paid 60$ for a game in decades, but that’s on PC where older games (usually) drop in price and sales happen regularly.
Just picked up like 4 deluxe editions of games for a combined total of under £60 in the playstation sale.
4 games for less than the price of a single game at launch. Companies are utterly taking the piss with their launch pricing.
Why would I buy a game at launch when in a year or two I can get it with all the content for a reasonable price?

gamepass has increased its price by almost a 100% in the last few years and you don’t even “own” games like you do on steam, where you also don’t really own em but atleast its in your library.

Gamers are INFAMOUS for being horrible at voting with their wallets, and developers and publishers take advantage of that fact.
I was not buying games at 40-60$ already. First of all I see nothing there that I like, and secondly some 10-30$ indie provides MUCH more bang for the buck.
Once we’re able to walk into a Target and get a Switch 2 with ease, everyone and their mother will buy one. It’s a Nintendo first party game, we’re gonna pay $80 and we’ll be very happy.
We’re gonna pay $100+ for GTA 6 and be thrilled with it. Gaming hasn’t had a price increase since the N64. It’s gonna be okay.

Smart gamers + game pass together in the same sentence doesn’t make much sense.
Game pass is good for consumers, bad for the market in the long term. This is how Netflix started – don’t think for a second Game pass won’t lean into the greedy side of subscriptions soon enough.
I have a big backlog because i start a game and then go get bored after 4-5 hours.

Yeah this is kinda my thought. Love my switch and am looking forward to eventually owning Switch 2 but I have so many games in my backlog I’m not in a rush
Games should be priced by amounts of content. For example, Ubisoft games and GTA should be priced at $100 because they are the gold-standard of the video games industry. Short boring games like Mario or Zelda should be $20 max since kids cannot afford more expensive games.
