These boogers were thrown across the house last Wednesday might by 160mph winds after a tornado tore off our roof, then they had whole-ass walls dropped on them.
My blue Fractal case even warped significantly without breaking it, I was astonished by that. My wife's Corsair case was fairly unscathed too, save for the front panel being ripped off and thrown who knows where. So if you have one of those, you're in pretty good hands lol. Her GPU cleaned right up and probably still works. Mobos are likely toast though.
Bottom line, we're just glad that we and our little ones came out unharmed. Damn all the material stuff, means nothing compared to what's precious. Just thought it would be interesting to share what the PCs looked like after getting tossed around!

Man they look pretty good for tornado damage.
Consider it nature’s free stylization
the blue case doesn’t use glass, that’s plastic
We had a tornado pass a couple blocks from my house while I was out of town texting with my family that was hiding in the basement. We dodged the bullet but it was terrifying.
Good that you have your perspective straight. Good luck getting things squared away.
the weakest part of a tempered glass is the edges of the glass. theyre magnitudes stronger on the flat facing end hence can take a beating. same logic can be applied to car windows. your windows are hard to smash from the flat end, but if you roll your window partway down and smash the window from the edge, you’re far more likely to damage it that way.
Tiles do damage to glass panels often because of a few factors, mainly:
1. people drop it edge side onto the floor
2. the tiles are likely cemented onto the ground with very little/no wiggle room. the hardess of the tile, and the floor not wanting to move transfers all the energy to the glass instead.
If you HAVE to drop a glass panel on a tile floor, always lay it down FLAT SIDE DOWN
anything sharp and harder than the glass will break it, a nail would do this. The reason tiles kill panels really easily is because they’re super hard and smooth, so the smallest spec of gravel would be enough to break it (also, it being really small makes it really sharp)
other flooring are softer so less risks (maybe concrete could also cause issues? but i’m not sure)
Most of that should be salvageable luckily; hope you’re okay!
…. Boogers?
Someone post the sign and update it to 1 day
That first case looks acrylic and not glass but damn still both held up well. Hope all works.
It’s like dropping a spark plug on a car window. Instant shatter.
This makes me nervous about getting an all around glass pc even though i have carpet and a pc stand think i might just place it on my desk when i get a new pc this year …
Boogers? Like snot?
Thats one way to get dust outta your pc joking aside it’s amazing there still in one piece
Desk_top… the 1st part is critical. Never put your PC on the floor like some low life console owner.
Glad you and your family are safe, what a nasty line of storms that was last week. Sorry about the computers though!
