For all other operating systems we have at least some form of explanation, like sandevistan speeds up your perception and movement above their limit in exchange for strain on your body, cyberdeck allows you to connect to local wifi and send viruses to everyone who also connected, but I have no idea how it works. How does it make you immortal (or at least makes you really damn tanky) why does it stop you from using guns and why are you getting so much stronger physically?

I think berserk is both a physical and a mental state. When a Viking berserker runs with an axe, you don’t ask him why he didn’t choose to shoot arrows safely.
When activated, the following occurs:
1) Complete blocking of pain signals to the brain
2) Stimulation of noradrenaline and adrenaline production
3) Acceleration of reflexes, reaction speed, quickness
4) Stimulation of greater platelet production for greater blood clotting
5) Stopping digestion, saliva, tears, rapid breathing
As far as I’m concerned, this is the most realistic theory of how a berserker works
Don’t know about immortality, that on we have to give a pass for gameplays sake. But the “berserk” state is probably iduced by overstimulating the part of the brain responsible for “fight or flight” instinct. But that’s just my speculation.
It pumps psilocybin straight into your neuron system to create the ancient Viking state of berserk.
Prob injects adrenaline and/or something for you to go crazy on people
To be fair, there isn’t any real explanation for speedware (sandevistan, kerenzikov, etc.) either. A suite of neural cyberware (neural link, chipware sockets, etc.) is a mandatory prerequisite for using them, but there’s no explanation of the actual biological/physiological mechanism.
It’s all “rule of cool,” as is standard for Cyberpunk.
Adrenaline boost letting you ignore life threatening injuries for a short time. The rest of the effects are just fun factor for a shooter game.
It jork da peanits
Lore-wise if you activate a sandevistan you get a heart attack and you die lmao.
Tried on myself.
Canonically, it just regulates hormones to improve your fight or flight, in the tabletop games this represents itself as stopping the negative effects of being at low health.
They take the dingle bop and they push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It’s important that the fleeb is rubbed, becasue the fleeb has all the fleeb juice.
Then, a schlami shows up, and he rubs it…and spits on it.
They cut the fleeb. There’s several hizzards in the way.
The blamfs rub against the chumbles, and the…plubis, and grumbo are shaved away.
That leaves you with…a regular old plumbus.
Basically it taps into your endocrine system so it controls your adrenaline giving you bursts of superhuman strength and blocks pain receptors in your brain so you push through most injuries
It all started with [turbo encabulator](https://youtu.be/Ac7G7xOG2Ag) technology, progressed into the [retro encabulator](https://youtu.be/RXJKdh1KZ0w), but the [hyper encabulator](https://youtu.be/5nKk_-Lvhzo) was the key technology to make this possible.
My guess blocks pain responses in the brain while injecting some sophisticated futuristic steroids that instantly jack up your adrenaline and inducing rage.
It turns you into this guy briefly

if you look closely it kinda looks what could be an hdmi to coax converter lol
Like mixing PCP (angel dust), adrenochrome and speed but injecting it straight into your brain stem.
In the table top (2020) combat didn’t usually end with death. More often characters would be incapacitated. Incapacitated characters and NPCs are often not far from death, and could die without medical intervention. Berserk essentially makes you immune to making stun saves, so you can’t become incapacitated. To translate this back to table top, I think it would allow you to take actions after your health falls to zero, but before failing a mortal save

what am i a doctor? i just stuck it up my butt and went vrooooom
