I’m either using it wrong or it really is very underwhelming in comparison to Edgerunners

Never used it but I remember reading somewhere on here it might have got nerfed

it can do a lot of damage with the right build. but it’s not as good as shocking gorilla arms.

You have to use a special type of cyberdeck which greatly improves monowire damage on enemies that you quickhacked. The monowire is, after all, a netrunner’s weapon, so it’s normal for it to not be as strong as the mantis blades or the gorilla arms without the proper build.

I remember tearing through entire groups of gangoons which were too busy being blind, deaf or feeling the dead weight of all their chrome to fight back. The finisher, where you use your wire to decapitate your opponent, is really satisfying.

No it’s because V is using it wrong, Lucy uses it to slip around enemies in a motion that completely tangles them and is deadly after heating up, V is a dumbass and just uses it like a fucking whip most of the time

It’s a crowd control tool more than anything. If you’re focusing on high stamina cost high damage strikes, don’t. Try getting as many hits as you can instead. Get the syphon bonus that leeches ram on hit. Use overheat on fat targets to soften them up. Use reboot optics and weapon glitch to cc enemies and set them up to give you more ram on syphon and take more damage from overheats

  6. It is way more of a “short range fallback” for netrunners now, not actually a real melee build weapon. It doesn’t benefit from melee skills or item buffs.

The electrical version is still great for crowd controlling, but I never play a netrunner that deliberately gets in close range…

It’s my first playthrough leaning into monowire, and honestly I regret wasting my respec to do it. It’s only really useful if there are a crowd of targets and I use Overclock. Other builds have been far more fun for me.

  8. it was better before the dlc game out. back when it scaled off agi and used blade perks

Pre-2.0 monowire was so overpowered it made the game boring. With what perks there were, and complimenting cyberware, you could easily get something like 3,000+ dps out of monowire and every other weapon would at most near 1,000.

Contagion + weapon glitch qh on the wire is enough to take out most crowds

Now switch it around but put netrunnering instead 👀☕️

  12. Plane-Education4750

It’s the worst arm cyberware, but it’s also still disgustingly powerful in the right build

  13. The monowire is op with a netrunner build and when you get the relic perks.

  14. BlackTarTurd

Both are using it wrong. I’ve seen Johnny Mnemonic and Cybercity.

I was definitely excited to use it then very underwhelmed using it

There’s a cyberdeck you can use that enhances damage for the monowires. That paired with smart weapons that do electric damage and the electric mono wires with cripple movement and cyberware malfunction paired along short circuit the shock and awe cyberware to make a whole electrical build. Or you can run the thermal wires and use contagion mixed with reboot optics and fire based weapons to cause anyone with contagion to explode when caught on fire

The monowire was completely revamped in one of the major patches, nerfed. It was an incredibly powerful weapon and usually paired with sandevistan, so it filled the same niche as the mantis blades. They decided to make it a support weapon paired with netrunning. When edgerunners was written, the monowire was still agility-based.

Nothing says “you’re old” more when there are talks about Monowire and nobody mentions the movie “Johnny Mnemonic”. That’s the OG of Monowire usage.
